Tess and Anna Coleman are in for a serious bout of déjà vu. Twenty years after the mother-daughter duo swapped bodies, Freaky Friday 2 is officially in the works. Disney confirmed the sequel to The Hollywood Reporter on May 10 and shared that both Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan are expected to reprise their roles as the career-driven mom and rockstar daughter, respectively.

In a recent interview with The New York Times, Jamie shared that she was consistently asked about a Freaky Friday sequel during the Halloween Ends press tour, and said that it “touched a chord” in her. “When I came back, I called my friends at Disney and said, ‘It feels like there’s a movie to be made,’” she recalled.

Details are limited, and it remains unknown whether or not Pink Slip will deliver an iconic soundtrack once again — “Take Me Away” deserved a Grammy and you know it — but here’s everything we know (so far) about Freaky Friday 2.

What will Freaky Friday 2 be about?

The original Freaky Friday, which is based on Mary Rodgers’ 1972 novel of the same name, follows Tess and Anna Coleman, a mother and daughter who constantly butt heads. But one Friday morning, they wake up to find out that they have magically swapped bodies and must pretend to be the other until they figure out how to switch back.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the sequel will depict the same premise, but additional details are being kept hush-hush. The outlet confirms that screenwriter Elyse Hollander is writing the script.

When will Freaky Friday 2 premiere?

Disney *just* confirmed the sequel, so a release date has not yet been announced. The Hollywood Reporter affirms that the project is currently in development, but star Lindsay Lohan is currently pregnant with her first child. It’s unclear if filming will wait until after her baby is born, so in any case, it’ll probably be a few months until we get an update on the premiere.

Who else stars in Freaky Friday 2?

While Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan are expected to reprise their roles as Tess and Anna Coleman, their return hasn’t been confirmed yet. However, Lindsay told The New York Times that they are both “open” to coming back.

Other casting details have not yet been announced either. The original 2003 film also starred Chad Michael Murray as Anna’s crush Jake, Mark Harmon as Tess’s fiancé Ryan, Ryan Malgarini as Harry Coleman, and Christina Vidal and Haley Hudson as Anna’s besties Maddie and Peg. Disney has not confirmed any of their returns and Harold Gould, who played Anna and Harry’s grandpa, passed away in 2010.

Where can I watch the original Freaky Friday?

Can’t wait for the sequel’s premiere? Same. While we wait for more details, you can stream the OG Freaky Friday on Disney+.
