Just Four Sierra Ski Resorts Have Hit 100% Of Average Snowfall
Tahoe Daily Snow, or TahoeWeather on X (previously twitter) posted the season totals for the ski areas around Tahoe, CA, that have closed for the season.
Officials also wrote that "1/3 of the ski areas have closed for the season. We will have another 1/3 closing this weekend." See below.

Tahoe Daily Snow clarified that the "season % of average" measures the snowfall against the average of the last 15 seasons.
Starting off strong, Sugar Bowl, a notably snowy resort, is at 106% for their season percent of average. Mt. Rose is at 105% of their season percent of average, as is Dodge Ridge, in the Central Sierra.
Sugar Bowl has seen 481 inches of snow this season, and Dodge Ridge has seen 372 inches over the course of the season.
China Peak is at 104% of their season percent of average with 365 inches of snow falling at this point in the season.
Now, California as a whole is above average for snowpack, but clearly, that has not held true for most resorts in the Sierra.

Many resorts are almost at their average snowpack, such as Boreal, with 93% of average, Homewood, also with 93% of average, Bear Valley in the Central Sierra, with 93%, and Palisades Tahoe, with 91%.
Mammoth is at 89% of their average, which is reasonably close, but still significantly lower than normal.
Interestingly, South Lake Tahoe seemed to have fared the worst out of all of the areas listed. Heavenly is at 66% of average, with 226 inches falling this season, and Sierra-at-Tahoe is at 83%, with Kirkwood faring the best at 84%.
As Tahoe Daily Snow mentions, 1/3 more resorts close this weekend. However, the remaining 6 open resorts in the Sierra could possibly see a little snow the last week of April.
It's been a season to remember, and hopefully, the season ends with a bang. It could have been worse, though. With last season being so record-breakingly snowy, one would predict this season could have been extremely disappointing.
For many resorts to be close to, or even above, their average snowfall levels, is worth celebrating in the wake of last season.
