For starters, 1-800-Flowers.com is a user-friendly website to navigate: There’s plenty of tabs, filters, and sorting mechanisms that guide you to the most gorgeous bouquet for your budget. The occasion edits are more organized than other flower delivery services we’ve tested — toggle over to the Mother’s Day tab, and you’ll see an expansive menu that details all the goodies 1-800-Flowers can deliver, including potted plants, gourmet foods, seasonal wreaths, and small to extra large bouquets. After filtering through 10 pages of blooms, the Honey Bee Buzz for Spring bouquet caught our eye with its pastel pink roses, vibrant asters, and alstroemeria. Rather than filler foliage, this 1-800-Flowers bouquet featured a medley of greenery studded with gorgeous Queen Anne’s lace for added dimension.
We opted for the $59.99 small variation of the bouquet, and began the surprisingly fast check out process. After inputting the delivery zip code, a handful of delivery options surfaced with markings on the price increase — expect to spend about $4 extra for same-day delivery and about $3 extra for weekend deliveries and holidays. We were pleased to see that you can schedule a delivery up to a month out (perfect for securing the best flower delivery for Mother’s Day before bouquets start selling out). Within 1 hour and 45 minutes of clicking ‘place order,’ the flowers were hand delivered to our office via a courier.
The bouquet arrived to us mostly as advertised, including the flower varietals listed on the product page and in similar colors to the image on the website. The roses were fully bloomed and fragrant, while the alstroemeria hadn’t quite fully opened (great for the longevity of the bouquet). It’s also worth noting that the porcelain vase the flowers arrived in was carefully protected in a structured cardboard box with plastic wrapping around the blooms for safekeeping, and both were easy to dismantle.
