Dairy Queen

Hot on the heels of the news that it quietly discontinued a fan-favorite flavor of ice cream dip, Dairy Queen is back on our radar with some happier news. Real DQ fans already know about the beloved chain's summer Blizzard treat menu—which features three returning flavors and two new flavors—and now DQ is going even further by introducing another flavor of Blizzard. And better yet—it'll roll out in DQ locations by the end of June. Here's what you need to know.

Dairy Queen Is Introducing A New Blizzard in June

We first saw a hint at this summer Blizzard flavor on social media, with a sneak peek posted on the account @snackolator. We've been burned before, so we reached out to our contacts at Dairy Queen to confirm the news.

In a sweet turn out of events, this leak was indeed real! The Dairy Queen Blizzard of the Month club will welcome a new member in the form of a brand new flavor: Cake Batter Cookie Dough. The Blizzard features DQ's cake batter flavor soft serve mixed with confetti cookie dough pieces and DQ’s signature sprinkles. For rainbow sprinkle lovers, this is the best news since the Frosted Animal Cookie Blizzard came to DQ menus.

The Cake Batter Cookie Dough flavor will run as the July Blizzard of the Month, but you don't technically have to wait until July to try it. According to our sources, the Blizzard will hit menus at participating locations as early as June 26. Dairy Queen said let them eat cake (batter blizzards!).

Can't wait till then to dive into some cake batter cookie dough goodness? D.I.Y. a homemade version with this brilliant tip for making soft serve ice cream in a stand mixer, then grab some rainbow sprinkles and whip up some edible cookie dough right at home. Or, just stick with one of the other five flavors of summer Blizzard treats already in DQ stores—I know that's what I'll be doing.
