In an unexpected twist, Jury Duty star Ronald Gladden will finally get to experience real jury duty for the first time.

On May 19, Gladded shared a photo of an official jury duty summons he received from the County of San Diego on his Instagram Story. He captioned it, "Coincidental timing?"

The 30-year-old won the hearts of viewers when he starred in the Freevee series from The Office producer Lee Eisenberg and Borat Subsequent Movie Film producer Todd Schulman. The show, which premiered in April, pulled off the incredible stunt of having Gladded be the only non-actor in a semi-mockumentary about jury duty and captured his reactions to being surrounded by eccentric, out-of-control characters–including James Marsden–who played an exaggerated, fictional version of himself.

Many fans of the comedy shared their reactions to the hilarious news on social media.

So how exactly did Gladden get duped into fake jury duty? Well, in 2021, Gladden answered an Craigslist ad that asked for a volunteer juror to appear on a documentary. He beat thousands of applicants with his charming demeanor displayed in pre-production interviews.

Gladden retained his charming, helpful demeanor throughout the three weeks on sequestered on fake jury duty, no matter what outlandish situation the writers threw at him, including having to take the blame for Marsden clogging up a toilet with a massive poop. When it was finally revealed to Gladden at the end of the fake trial that he wasn't actually on jury duty, he was rewarded with $100,000 for his time.

In an interview with Variety, he spoke about his newfound fame. "I'd be lying if I told you I wasn't a little bit nervous about all this attention," he admitted. "Obviously, I'd never experienced this type of recognition before."

Now that he's going to be part of actual jury duty, it remains to be seen how he'll handle it. With every scenario experienced during the show, Gladden can easily handle the real thing.
