Wow!house 2023
London | June 5–July 6
A year after the launch of the Wow!house, the event returns to the Design Centre Chelsea Harbour. The monthlong installation will take place in a 1,300-square-foot showroom with 17 separate rooms, housed within a structure with a 3D-geometric-printed facade by Riba architect Arthur Mamou-Mani; the sustainability-minded event’s bespoke furnishings are slated for reuse following the installation’s run. Birmingham Design Social
Birmingham, Michigan | June 7
The Design Social Pop-Up, created in 2019 to connect interior designers with boutique trade brands, is heading to Birmingham, Michigan. The pop-up will offer creatives the opportunity to shop more than 30 independent industry brands and feature programming moderated by BOH editor in chief Kaitlin Petersen. Design Shanghai
Shanghai | June 8–11
The 10th edition of Design Shanghai will showcase more than 600 local and international brands from 40 countries and regions, and is expected to welcome 70,000-plus visitors over the four days. The show’s footprint expanded 50 percent this year, with halls that feature furniture and lighting, kitchen and bathroom design, and a new space dedicated to homewares, interiors and the accessories industry in China. Highlighted brands include companies like Ligne Roset, Carl Hansen & Søn and Louis Poulsen, as well as Chinese designers Ziinlife, Jianze and Frank Chou Design Studio. NeoCon 2023
Chicago | June 12–14
Held at The Mart, this year’s NeoCon event will bring together more than 400 companies with new products in the commercial design sphere, serving the hospitality, health care, education, residential and public space sectors. For the first time, NeoCon will host a live studio in partnership with the Surround podcast network and sponsored by exhibitor SnapCab, where attendees will have the opportunity to watch recording sessions throughout the three-day show. Special programming includes keynote addresses by founder and CEO of the Future Today Institute Amy Webb, co-founder of Mass Design Group Michael Murphy and Hip Hop Architect Michael Ford. Design Miami/Basel
Basel, Switzerland | June 13–18
Held at Basel’s Messeplatz, the 17th edition of Design Miami/Basel will be presented in a new format aimed to highlight both established and new exhibitors showcasing furniture, lighting, jewelry and art objects. In addition to the 26 gallery presentations, additional programming will include a special project by jeweler Caroline Van Hoek, an interactive installation by artist Cyril Lancelin and a presentation by United Arab Emirates–based Irthi Contemporary Crafts Council. A Designer’s Point of View
Denver | June 14
Ann Arbor, Michigan | June 15
In partnership with The Shade Store, Business of Home’s editor in chief Kaitlin Petersen is traveling to showrooms in Colorado and Michigan to host a conversation with the local design community. In Denver, she will sit down with interior designers Katie Schroder of Atelier Interior Design and NeKeia McSwain of NeKeia & Co. to look under the hood of their firms and discuss what success looks like today. In Ann Arbor the next day, Petersen will talk to interior designers Mia Johnson of Mia Johnson Interior Design, Rachel Nelson of Concetti Studio and Leslie Murchie Cascino of Bonnie Wu Design to explore how they’ve approached business growth.
