June Mountain Sends Skiers To Mammoth Due To Delayed Opening

June Mountain in California, the family oriented ski resort near Mammoth Lakes, has delayed their opening day due to a lack of natural snow.

Officials at June Mountain posted an operations update to Instagram earlier today with the announcement that the "warm temps and a lack of early season natural snow are forcing us to push back our opening day one week until Saturday, December 23."

June Mountain is the favorable option for families or skiers looking to learn in a more laid back environment, as Mammoth can be crowded and gnarly for those looking for a leisurely ski day.

Luckily, officials at June predict that "favorable snowmaking conditions look to return tomorrow and should remain through the end of the week, which will help us build up the snow base from the top of J2 down to The Chalet."

"Fingers crossed that a more active/stormy weather pattern arrives early next week."

In an act of goodness, June Mountain is not hanging pass purchasers out to dry with the news of the delay.

The resort announces that skiers and rider who already reserved a trip we will either receive a refund, extended reservations, or a switch in products to Mammoth Mountain.

These guests are urged to "call 800.MAMMOTH for assistance."

What's the claim: June or Mammoth? Mammoth's cornice is pretty sick, even if it's still a bit icy.
