Sands was reported missing two weeks ago after he was last seen hiking Mt. Baldy in California.

The family of Julian Sands is speaking out as search efforts continue.

On Monday, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department shared a statement from the family on Twitter.

"As we enter day 11 of the search for Julian Sands on Mt. Baldy, we are reminded of the sheer determination & selflessness of all of the people who have aided in this search," the authorities captioned the post.

The account then shared a statement from the family, which read: “Our heartfelt thanks to the compassionate members of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department who are coordinating the search for our beloved Julian, not least the heroic search teams listed below who are braving difficult conditions on the ground and in the air to bring Julian home.”

"We are deeply touched by the outpouring of love and support,” the statement concluded.

Sands was reported missing two weeks ago. The 65-year-old movie star was last seen hiking Mt. Baldy, a mountain outside of Los Angeles in San Bernardino County, California.

Search efforts have been impacted by severe weather, with Gloria Huerta, a San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department spokesperson, informing CNN that search and rescue crews were on the mountain looking for Sands on Saturday but had to suspend their efforts due to bad weather and the potential for avalanche conditions. Huerta also noted that drones are still being flown over the area in an attempt to locate the missing actor.

The Mt. Baldy resort was later closed on Monday, Jan. 23, due to “high winds,” with the account noting that the rest of the week was expected “to be glorious,” which would likely aide in the continuing search.

Sands isn't the only person in recent weeks to go missing after attempting a hike in the area. On Jan. 22, Jin Chung, 75, was also reported missing after he failed to meet up with the group he was with back at their vehicle, per FOX News.

Sands moved from England to the North Hollywood area after his 40-year acting career kicked off. He is best known for his roles in some of the most popular movies from the '80s, including A Room With a View, Arachnophobia, Leaving Las Vegas, and Warlock.

In addition to his performances in full-length feature films, Sands also appeared on hit television shows like 24, Smallville, Dexter, Into the Dark, Person of Interest, Castle, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and Jackie Chan Adventures, per IMDb.
