Julia Louis-Dreyfus Reacts to Her History-Making 2018 SAG Awards Win on Twitter

Julia Louis-Dreyfus was up against some pretty tough competition for the 2018 SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series. GLOW’s Alison Brie, Grace and Frankie’s Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, and Orange Is the New Black‘s Uzo Aduba all gave amazing performances this past year, but it was the Veep star who made history with her record-setting win.

Louis-Dreyfus’ victory tonight was her third for her current role and follows two wins for her work as the beloved Elaine Benes on Seinfeld, making her the first TV actress to earn five individual trophies. On top of that, she won three comedy ensemble awards for her work on the hit series in the ’90s, and another ensemble award for Veep tonight.

While the star, who finished her second round of chemotherapy to treat breast cancer back in October, was not present to accept her award, she did send out a special message about the honor via Twitter.

“I wish I could have been @SAGawards tonight,” she wrote, “but have to admit it’s pretty fun to watch in my pj’s.”

She went on to say that she’s “so honored to win” and “so proud to be a union member.” She also sent a shout-out to her costars, who accepted the award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. “So happy for my @VeepHBO bozos for winning ensemble award. Miss being at the table with you all. How was the chicken?” she joked. We’re sure it was delicious!
