Julia Louis-Dreyfus Gives Health Update 6 Years After Breast Cancer Diagnosis

Julia Louis-Dreyfus is feeling good as she reflects on her battle with breast cancer.
The Seinfeld alum revealed her diagnosis in a tweet just over six years ago, writing, "One in eight women get breast cancer. Today, I'm the one." The news came just a day after she won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress for the sixth year in a row for her work on Veep, putting a damper on the impressive feat.
But today, the 62-year-old is in remission, and able to look back on that time with a little bit of levity.
In a new interview with WSJ. Magazine, which just named her Entertainment Innovator of the Year, the actress admits it was almost like someone else was writing the script of her life.
"I mean, it felt like it was written. It felt like it was a horrible black comedy," she told the publication. But as reality set in, she said it "morphed into crying hysterically."
Until she was diagnosed herself, such an illness was a very outside-looking-in sort of topic for her. "You just simply don’t consider it for yourself, you know, that’s sort of the arrogance of human beings," she said. "But of course, at some point, we’re all going to bite it."
Today, she works to make every day count. "I find myself living more mindfully," she said. "It’s not like it’s yakking at me all the time, but there’s more laser focus."
Perhaps some of that attention will soon be put to use on the rumored Seinfeld reunion?
