From Harper's BAZAAR

Last week's episode of Riverdale contained several shocking revelations, including the unveiling of the Black Hood. So now that Betty's dad, Hal Cooper, is in prison for the Black Hood murders, Riverdale is safe, right? Wrong!

Here's everything that happened in Riverdale's Season 2 finale, "Brave New World":

1) The episode starts with Betty at Jughead's grave.

The opening moments of the Riverdale finale tries to trick us into thinking Jughead died after being beaten up by the Ghoulies and Penny Peabody at the end of last week's episode. The episode starts with Betty kneeling at Jughead's grave. Archie and Veronica watch as Betty tells Jughead's gravestone that their story isn't over yet. The show really wants us to believe that Cole Sprouse is exiting the series.

2) Jughead wakes up and is reunited with Betty.

But luckily, Jughead didn't die after being beaten up. He wakes up in the hospital, and his dad reveals that the Serpents have disbanded. Betty comes to visit Jughead, and FP tells his son to protect Betty following the news that her dad is the Black Hood.

3) Fangs is alive but the Serpents don't exist anymore.

Apparently news of his death was just a ploy to get the Serpents to go to war-and it worked. Fangs miraculously survived that shooting, but the Serpents struggled to stay together following the riots, along with Hiram's campaignsto get rid of the Southside altogether.

All of the homes on the trailer park were destroyed, and most of the former Serpents are currently hiding out at the local hangout, The White Worm, as it's the only place they can go.

4) Veronica is giving Fred intel about her mother's campaign.

But the Lodges have spun it so the Riverdale residents think Hiram put a stop to the riots. Fred's chances of winning the mayoral race now seem slim.

5) There's a second Black Hood.

Archie and the gang discuss the second shooter, who shot Fred Andrews while Betty's dad was with the Coopers, and who also shot at the mayoral candidates at the town hall debate. They've realized that one Black Hood couldn't have been in every place at the same time.

Jughead muses that the second shooter seems to have a political motive, and the gang instantly suspect the new Sheriff, who is very close to Hiram Lodge.

6) Cheryl discovers that her mom and uncle are working with Hiram.

After she makes Nana Blossom her legal guardian, Cheryl goes to give the separation papers to her mom, who is now living in one of the barns on the property. However, Cheryl finds her mom and Uncle Claudius discussing something with Hiram. She hides, fearful of what they'll do if they know she's been listening in.

Later, she tells Betty, "It looked like collusion to me."

7) Alice Cooper is losing it, and Betty blames herself for the Black Hood's murders.

Betty apologizes to Fred Andrews for her dad's actions, telling him she feels responsible for Hal's murders. She says that since the killer was right under her nose the entire time, she should've done more.

Meanwhile, her mom shouts down reporters and photographers who turned up at the Cooper house to gawk at the home of the Black Hood.

8) Archie goes to the police station to identify Hal Cooper.

Archie officially identifies Hal Cooper as the man responsible for shooting his dad, and also tells the new Sheriff there's a second shooter. The Sheriff doesn't seem to believe Archie, though, and tells him to let it go.

9) Veronica questions her dad about the Black Hood.

Veronica is suspicious about the second shooter and quizzes her dad. She accuses him of hiring someone to be the Black Hood and do his dirty work around town. Hiram obviously denies the allegations.

10) FP gets fired and starts drinking again.

Hiram fires FP from his job at Pop's. As a result, FP starts drinking again, and Jughead returns home to find his dad drunk. FP also says he wants Jughead to leave Riverdale with him and move somewhere safer.

11) The new Sheriff claims to have caught the second shooter.

After refusing to believe Archie's claims, the Sheriff miraculously catches a second shooter-ex-Serpent Tall Boy. Tall Boy had previously been working with Hiram to cause unrest in Riverdale, so his capture seems a little too convenient. But the Sheriff declares that the case is now closed.

12) Polly wants to visit Hal in prison.

Polly returns home with the twins and tries to convince Betty to go to visit their dad with her. She preaches a gospel of forgiveness that she learned from the leaders at The Farm (which seems more and more like a cult with every mention). However, Betty says she has no interest in forgiving or visiting Hal.

13) Hermione reveals Hiram's plan.

Hermione decides to start working against her husband. She wants Veronica to usurp Hiram's next purchase to stop his plan from going ahead. She fears he's getting too powerful and isn't protecting his family the way he should.

Hiram needs to buy The White Worm from the Serpents before he can move forward with building his prison, and Hermione suggests Veronica buys it from under him with the $1 million she got from the St. Clairs.

14) Veronica threatens to tell all of Hiram's secrets unless he gives her $1 million back.

Veronica, with Mrs. McCoy at her side as her new lawyer, threatens to reveal all of Hiram's secret plans to the town unless he gives back her money. Hiram, of course, claims to have put Veronica's $1 million into a trust for safe keeping, but her threats work, and he gives back the money.

15) Cheryl's mom reveals that the Sheriff plans to evict all of the Serpents from The White Worm.

Penelope Blossom is concerned for Cheryl's safety-especially since she plans to go to The White Worm to see Toni-and reveals that Hiram is getting the Sheriff to evict the Serpents from their lair. Penelope is scared because she knows the police will use force and shoot anyone there on a whim on the orders of the Sheriff (and Hiram).

With this intel, Cheryl rushes to help Toni and the Serpents. They get Archie's help, too, and the Serpents escape. Fred lets them all stay in his house, but it's a close call, and the police cars arrive just after they've left the building.

16) Archie and his fellow students protest the Serpents being banned from school.

Archie learns there's a plan to move all the Serpents from Riverdale High to another school hours away. He enlists the help of every student to stop the transfers. They don Serpent jackets and stand up to the principal. They threaten to walk out in unison unless the Serpents are allowed to stay, and luckily, this ploy works.

17) Veronica wants to trade The White Worm for Pop's.

Hiram agrees to the deal, but threatens, "No more allowance. No more trust fund. No more credit cards. You'll also sign over your third of Lodge Industries, to me." Veronica accepts the offer so that Pop's will remain open for her and her friends.

18) Betty says goodbye to her dad forever.

Betty goes to visit Hal in prison, but not to make amends as Polly suggested. Instead, she says goodbye to her dad, and the Black Hood, forever. With Hal spitting insults behind glass, it's all very Silence of the Lambs.

19) Archie Andrews becomes the Student Body President.

In a surprise turn of events, Archie wins the election.

20) FP retires and makes Jughead the Serpent King.

He came out of retirement to help Jughead earlier in Season 2, but in the finale, FP announces his official retirement and passes the torch to his son. He's ready to say goodbye to the jacket for good.

21. Cheryl becomes a Serpent.

Toni watches as Cheryl dons an incredible red leather jacket and becomes a Serpent.

22) Hermione becomes the new mayor.

Fred Andrews loses the mayoral race to Hermione, but she goes to his house to shake his hand and make amends.

23) Hiram's prison plans are disappointingly springing into action.

Easily the most boring part of the season has involved Hiram's plan to turn Riverdale into a prison town. Major yawn. But for some reason, his plotting is turning into reality, and he has a team of people working for him. Once the prison is up and running, Claudius Blossom's drugs will be incredibly lucrative inside, The Ghoulies will be the soldiers and dealers, Penny Peabody will be responsible for troubleshooting any problems that arise, and Penelope Blossom will open a brothel. Does anyone actually care about this storyline?

24) Polly wants her mom to go to The Farm.

Polly attempts to recruit her mom to the low-key cult she's now a part of. She promises that one of the leaders can help Alice get over the trauma of learning her husband was the Black Hood.

25) Jughead asks Betty to join the Serpents.

Jughead takes Betty to the Five Seasons for a romantic night in bed, and proposes that she becomes his Queen now that he is King of the Serpents. She accepts.

26) Archie is arrested for a murder one of Hiram's henchmen committed.

Hiram retaliates against Archie for going against him and siding with his dad. The new Sheriff arrests Archie for the murder that took place when Archie and Veronica were accosted at the Lodge's summer residence. In reality, one of Hiram's henchmen did the killing, but Archie heard the gunshot, and rumors had already been circulating amongst the mob that Archie earned his bones by killing a man. Does this mean Archie will be spending Season 3 in prison?

Bonus. Kevin and Moose make out!
