Judy Russell: Election Day First Tuesdays features world premiere of Harmon piece

Take a break before or after you vote on Election Day, April 2, to hear a world premiere of a John Harmon composition as First Tuesdays closes out its concert series for the season at First Congregational UCC. The series resumes again in October.

Harmon was commissioned to compose a romantic piano piece. He calls it “L’Historic D’Amour.” The piece, which runs five minutes, will receive its world premiere at this First Tuesdays event, which begins at noon sharp in the sanctuary. Linda Harmon will perform the piece on the “magnificent Steinway grand.” Also performing will be the Fox Valley Horn Ensemble.

The volunteers who make First Tuesdays possible will be recognized. In honor of the Horn Ensemble and the world premiere, the bakers will prepare five kinds of homemade breads to complement the two soups, salad and desserts served in Fellowship Hall after the performance. A $10 donation per person is suggested for the meal. The church is at 137 Algoma Blvd.
