The View ladies know - perhaps more than anyone - that talking about politics, religion, and all other non-dinner-party topics can get personal. But as Joy Behar told GoodHousekeeping.com, it's just part of the job.

"We kind of know that sometimes one of us goes over the line," Joy explains. "I won't say what specifically, but sometimes things go over the line that then have to be pulled back." She says it's happened "many, many times" over the course of her 20 years on the show.

"It would be very unrealistic to think that there would be no acrimony, disagreements, and maybe even hurt feelings sometimes. That's the way it is. [When] we go out there, we're on the ledge."

After a tough day of work, the ladies will sometimes find a way to cool off together. Joy says that her fellow co-stars will occasionally go out for drinks after the show to "diffuse" any tension. But other than that and popping into each other's offices from time to time, Joy says the cast members aren't constantly together.

"A lot of people like to make it into a big romantic movie ... or that we're always bonded at the hip," she says. "Sometimes we're mad at each other, sometimes we're not. Sometimes we like each other, sometimes we don't – just like girlfriends."

Joy adds that on-air arguments aren't even close to the hardest part about her job. Hair and makeup and deciding what to wear, however - now that's a different story.

"I don't like this, I'm not wearing this ... you know, I look fat in that - it's a lot of that going on," she says. "And every day, you know, you have to look up to snuff ... That's the part that annoys me the most."
