If you thought the Joshua Bassett-Olivia Rodrigo drama was over, think again.
On Thursday, ahead of the release of three new tracks—“Crisis,” “Secret,” and “Set Me Free”—Joshua sent out a text message to fans, acknowledging their support during a challenging year.
“Thank you for seeing me, and each other, as living, breathing, healing and hurting human beings,” he wrote per People. “Due to the nature of pop culture, and the current public perspective, there will be a lot of loud voices in this next chapter—positive, negative and everywhere in between.”
Then, the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series star urged fans to remain uplifting and kind, saying he will not tolerate any hate directed his way.
“All I ask is you treat everyone with respect and love,” Joshua wrote. “Anyone who sends hate on my ‘behalf’ is no fan of mine.”

Some fans are speculating that one of Joshua's new songs references Olivia Rodrigo, whose hit “drivers license” is largely believed to be about Joshua, the fallout of their relationship, and his closeness with actress Sabrina Carpenter (just in case you forgot).
The preemptive damage control seems a little suspicious. All three songs drop at midnight tonight, December 3—so if you need me, I’ll be counting down the minutes until then.
