Josh Peck revealed that he was almost very nearly cast as Edward Cullen in the Twilight movies.

On an episode of his podcast, Good Guys, Peck was joined by special guest Taylor Lautner, who played Jacob in the saga.

"Audition for this movie, Twilight. It's based on a book. It's gonna be great," Peck recalled being told around the time they were casting.

"I sent in my tape," Peck continued, "a month later, I'm with my manager, and he goes, 'it's down to you and three guys. You're close,'" Peck laughed, telling the story, saying, "I hadn't even had a tummy tuck yet. There's no way. He's gotta be so shirtless!"

Peck reflected on seeing Robert Pattinson getting the role, describing the choice between the two actors as "Chris Hemsworth or Stanley Tucci".

Lautner found the story hysterical, saying, "That's amazing... I did not know that".

Taylor Lautner shared his own Twilight tidbit when Josh Peck asked if there were talks that someone else would take over the role of Jacob from New Moon onwards due to the physical transformation the character undertakes.

Lautner said, "I've read the books, so I know where my character goes. So, thankfully, long before the first movie came out, I started my transformation journey, but the studio was unaware of that". Lautner then told the podcast that he received a call informing him that they would be recasting his role, and so he took a meeting with them to show them he had put on 20lbs of muscle.

They continued their search for an alternative Jacob, but ultimately, Lautner kept the role after essentially having to re-audition.
