Josh Gad Proved John Travolta's Idina Menzel Blunder Is the Joke that Keeps on Giving

Back in 2014, John Travolta created one of the most memorable viral moments of any Academy Awards ceremony. When he was introducing Idina Menzel, he mispronounced her name, saying, "Please welcome the Wicked-ly talented, the one and only, Adele Dazeem." Tonight, thanks to a performance of "Into the Unknown" that featured Menzel along with the singing voices of Elsas from all over the world, Travolta's gaffe came up again.

John Gad, voice of Frozen's Olaf, introduced his co-star and her international counterparts and tossed in a reference to that 2014 incident.

"The iconic and brilliant Idina Menzel," he said, adding, "Pronounced exactly as it is spelled."

After his mistake, Travolta apologized, saying, "I've been beating myself up all ...Then, I thought ...what would Idina Menzel say? She'd say, Let it go, let it go!"

Menzel never harbored any hard feelings, however. At the 2015 Oscar ceremony, she appeared as a presenter and said, "Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome to the stage my very dear friend Glom Gazingo."

Glom Gazingo was John Travolta and the two shared a hug.

"I deserve that," he said. "But you, you my darling, my beautiful, my wickedly talented Idina Menzel. Is that right?"

Menzel joked back, saying, "It's not like it’s going to follow me around for the rest of my life or anything."

It might not be around for the rest of her life, but in 2020, it was back and reminded everyone that even after letting it go, it can always come around again for more laughs.
