Actor and singer Josh Gad did not agree with American Idol judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie's decision to cut a contestant named Murphy from the competition. So much so, that the Tony nominee decided to take matters into his own hands.

Like many fans, Josh was shocked when the judges told Murphy on Sunday after his stunning performance of his original song "Am I Still Mine" that he didn't make the top 24. A day after the episode aired, Josh hopped on Twitter to reveal his true feelings about the elimination and ended up offering Murphy a job right then and there.

"Hey @Blindboy_music, you were robbed on @AmericanIdol and I would love for you to honor us by writing a song for us on #CentralParkTV - DM me," Josh tweeted, referencing the animated Apple TV+ sitcom he co-created with Loren Bouchard and Nora Smith from Bob's Burgers.

Five minutes later, Murphy responded: "I'd be honored. :) Dming you now."

Not surprisingly, fans were thrilled to see Josh recognize Murphy's talent and reward him with an incredible opportunity. Even though the elimination stunned everyone, Murphy kept his head up and made it clear that he considers himself to be lucky.

"Getting to be on that stage — I feel like I was at home," Murphy said while talking with Luke and Katy on the show. "Getting to sing a song that made me feel like I could share something beautiful with someone."

He also showed his appreciation for the experience after being told he was going home.

"Thank you for everyone that showed faith in me," Murphy wrote alongside an Instagram of a sunset picture. "Though my journey is over on #AmericanIdol, I'll still be singing. Tomorrow is a new day and the horizon looks very inviting. #Murphyonidol See you soon. :)"

That horizon is indeed looking more and more inviting, for sure! We're happy to see things looking up for the talented vocalist.
