Jorinde Van Klinken set and then re-set the Oregon school record in the women's indoor shot put in her first two meets of the season. Turns out, she was just warming up.

With a throw of 64 feet, 2½ inches, Van Klinken set the NCAA record Saturday during the Don Kirby Invitational track and field meet in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The previous collegiate record was 64-2¼, set by Raven Saunders of Ole Miss in 2017.

Van Klinken, a senior transfer from Arizona State who hails from the Netherlands, also set the Dutch national record with her fifth-round throw. Her previous best was 62-7¼ from her win at last season's NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship meet.

Van Klinken initially broke the Oregon record in her Ducks debut when she threw 59-5 in the season-opening UW Preview on Jan. 14. Two weeks later she threw 60-10½ at the Texas Tech Open.

Van Klinken wasn't the only Duck with an impressive performance during a three-meet weekend for Oregon.

Friday in Albuquerque, Alysah Hickey re-set her school record in the long jump with an NCAA-leading mark of 22-3½ — No. 11 on the NCAA all-time list. Her previous best was 21-10¼ from 2022.

Also Friday at the Don Kirby Invitational, sprinter Jadyn Mays won the women's 200 meters in a personal-record 22.86 seconds to become the fifth-fastest performer in program history. She followed with a win in the 60 on Saturday in 7.15.

Aaliyah McCormick set a PR of 8.01 to finish second in the 60 hurdles and moved into a tie for second on the UO all-time list with Alaysha Johnson (2017).

Jaida Ross finished third in the women's shot put with a throw of 58-2½ to take over sole possession of second on Oregon's all-time list.

Elliot Cook took more than three seconds off his PR in the mile with a 3:55.34 performance at the BU Invitational in Boston on Saturday. Cook is now the No. 7 all-time performer in program history.

Also in Boston, Izzy Thornton-Bott moved from seventh to fifth on the Ducks' all-time mile list with her time of 4:33.15. Freshman Klaudia Kazimierska, in the first indoor mile of her career, finished in a PR 4:33.67 to become the No. 7 performer in UO history. At the Husky Classic in Seattle on Friday, Mason Strunk finished second in the weight throw with a mark of 61-10¼.
