Jordan Peele's 'NOPE' Tops Domestic Box Office With $44 Million USD Opening

Jordan Peele's NOPE opened on top of the domestic box office as it earned a total of $44 million USD during its opening weekend.
According to reports, the film earned $6.4 million USD in previews and $13.19 million USD on its first day — totalling to $19.59 million USD — and $13.95 million USD on Saturday, rising 6% from its first day. 12% of the gross earnings, approximating to $5.2 million USD, came from 400 IMAX cinemas while 20% of the sales came from 800 premium large format (PLF) screens.
NOPE comes in as the second highest R-rated opening during COVID, just behind Halloween Kills' $49.9 million USD from 2021.
Universal Domestic Distribution Boss Jim Orr shared, “Jordan Peele is a master storyteller and with Nope, another example of his unique voice. He and his incredible cast led by Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer thrilled audiences across North America this weekend with a film that is a true ‘see it on the big screen’ theatrical experience.'”
