But he's still stoked to work with Lauren Graham on an upcoming project.

Jordan Fisher, of Dear Evan Hansen and Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between fame, didn't grow up geeking out about Gilmore Girls, but someone else he knows did: his wife, Ellie Woods.

"I wasn't a big Gilmore Girls fan," he admitted to Parade in a recent interview. "But my wife was and is and always has been."

Even so, he's thrilled to be working with Lorelai herself, Lauren Graham, on the upcoming film adaptation of Jennifer E. Smith's 2019 novel Field Notes on Love—though perhaps not as thrilled as his wife is for him.

"Lauren's just wonderful," Fisher described the actress, who's adapting the book into the screenplay. "[She's] so captivating, and she's one of the most intelligent people that you'll sit down and speak to."

He went on to say: "In terms of an adaptation, you want an actor/producer/director to take a book and be like, 'I know how to make this work for actors.'"

Fisher will be producing the film and said that between Graham and Smith–who are good friends with each other–he gets to breathe. "I know that between [the two of them] the material is going to be *chef's kiss*...From a producorial [the producer's] point of view, I get to take a deep breath and just look forward to the next draft."

The team is still in the very early days of pre-production, "but we're thrilled and it's going to be a dream," he said.

It was one of his closest childhood friends that introduced him to Gilmore Girls initially.

Fisher had been meeting with the creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino, to discuss a separate show that, unfortunately, didn't end up working out. But Fisher fell in love with the way that she—and Graham—worked.

"I fell in love with the sequence, the way that they talk, and how much information they can all get out in one episode because of the speed at which things happen," he said.

So he may not have been a fan back then, but it sounds like he's come around!
