Jonathan Van Ness Revealed His Secret for Perfect Air-Dried Waves

Before Jonathan Van Ness became one of the breakout stars of the Queer Eye reboot, the beloved beacon of joy and encouragement was a celebrated hairstylist, so we'll gladly take all of the advice he may offer when it comes to creating any particular style. But he also happens to be the owner of an incredible head of hair himself, so we're especially apt to listen to his recommendations if he's talking about how he achieves his own gorgeous, air-dried waves. And luckily, he just shared his favorite products for doing exactly that.

On Saturday, May 16, Van Ness shared a stunning selfie full of adorable freckles, but the real star of the shot is his long, brown hair, its texture a natural mix of waves and loose curls. "Feeling a natural wave 🏳️‍🌈 How many products do you think I used for this air dry lewk?" he wrote in the caption before sharing exactly which products went into the style.

Ironically, the very first step in his air-dried look involves a heat-styling product: Shu Uemura Art of Hair Wonder Worker Blow Dry Primer ($33). The spray's detangling and frizz-fighting properties are just as beneficial for air-drying, with moringa oil providing moisture and shine.

Next, JVN works Olaplex No.7 Bonding Oil ($28) through his still-damn hair with a Wet Brush ($8). The oil adds even more shine, and its lightweight formula is made to work well on hair of any thickness.

Finally, he uses R+Co Motorcycle Flexible Gel ($28) "on hairline for part control." It promises definition and separation with that excessively hard finish so many gels tend to provide.

Although Van Ness revealed his go-to products, fans want even more details. "Drop 👏 that 👏 routine 👏 my hair is the same texture as yours but NEVER looks as good," one commenter wrote. "Can you do an air drying tutorial?! 😍💕🙌🏼🙏🏻," another said. And count us in among the many who'd love to see JVN put these products in action. Fingers crossed!
