‘Queer Eye’s Jonathan Van Ness would 'get arrested' for this viral hair product — it's that good

Jonathan Van Ness would "end up on the no-fly list" for these hair products.

As a TV personality, touring stand-up comedian, podcaster and entrepreneur, Jonathan Van Ness is — to put it mildly — incredibly busy.

With the type of schedule that comes with founding your own haircare line, JVN Hair, and starring in a Netflix hit, Queer Eye, Van Ness has become something of an airport regular. And like any frequent flier, they have opinions on how to best pack a carry-on.

Overpacking on-board toiletries? "I couldn't. I just couldn't! Who does that?" Van Ness tells Yahoo Canada. "In the words of my stylist, that is such an amateur mistake."

"We're all working so hard in this economy for our beauty products [...], so we're not putting anything over 3.4 oz (100 mL) in our carry-on."

But, I press, let's say you did overpack your carry-on toiletries. Which products are you saving? Sophie's Choice: Sephora edition.

This "just literally wouldn't happen," Van Ness counters. "If that were to happen, [my assistant and I] would end up on the six o'clock news because she would probably have a nervous breakdown right then and there, and I probably would too," the Fun & Slutty comedian says.

"But let's say we both got early onset dementia, just really lost our minds packing, the thing I'm saving is...well, I'm probably going to get arrested because I'm going to shove the air dry cream up my [body] because it's been so hard to get a hold of lately."

"Between that and the Nurture Mask, and that mask is too big to hide on my person — it's going to be a two-way fight between Air Dry Cream and Nurture Mask," JVN jokes over Zoom. "I'm probably going to get taken to the local police station and end up on the no-fly list all for Nurture Mask and Air Dry Cream."

Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask

"I'm really obsessed with Summer Fridays," JVN says. "I love their ShadeDrops sunscreen. I also love the Jet Lag Mask, which I use as my nighttime sleeping mask. It's really good for after a show."

The Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask is packed with niacinamide, glycerin, hyaluronic acid and antioxidants.

Trinny London Plump Up Peptide⁺ HA Serum

"Trinny London has this incredible plump-up serum that I've been addicted to," Van Ness explains over Zoom. "It's a really beautiful priming-pluming serum."

Trinny London's Plump Up serum targets fine lines, sagging and dehydration through a powerful blend of peptides and hyaluronic acid.

Good Light Moon Glow Milky Toning Lotion

"Oh my God — Good Light, their [Moon Glow Milky Toning Lotion] is the most beautiful toning lotion, and then I also use the Good Light [Order Of The Eclipse Hyaluronic Cream] specifically on tour. I find that I put so much extra s—t on my face on tour for makeup and stuff that I go for unscented to be more gentle. I have psoriasis, so the more gentle I can be, I go for that."

This super hydrating, nourishing and soothing toner from Good Light is formulated with ceramides to help promote a healthy skin barrier.

Summer Fridays Summer Silk Nourishing Body Lotion

"I was going to try to lie to be more accessible, but I can't lie to a journalist. I was about to say, like, Cetaphil [for body care], but if I'm being honest — I'm using the Summer Fridays [Summer Silk Nourishing Body Lotion]. It reminds me of that Bath & Body Works shea-scented cream from the '90s, and I'm so addicted to it. It's amazing. You should try it. A little goes a long way. I really was going to say I'm a Cetaphil girl, but it's Summer Fridays body butter. I'm just going to be honest."

This luxe body lotion features plant-derived butters, natural oils and ceramides.

$38 at Sephora

JVN Nurture Hydrating Shampoo

"Ok, so obviously, I'm a JVN hair girl. On tour, I always use the Nurture Shampoo and Conditioner. I really like the smell and my hair is kind of going through it more [when on tour]."

This moisturizing shampoo leaves hair feeling softer and silkier.

$29 at Sephora

L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Extra Strong Hold Hairspray

"On tour, I use Elnett hairspray because she's a classic and she's amazing. It really controls my flyaways. It's a classic and I've been using it since I was a teenager. It reminds me of my grandma but in a chic way."

This ultra-fine unscented hairspray offers a clean hold and a soft satin touch.

$7 at Shoppers Drug Mart

Tancho Vegetable Pomade

"I use the Tancho stick; it's this pomade stick for flyaways. I especially like it on a fresh blow-dry to take that puffy, so fresh, so clean feel away from the hair, so it's a little more sexy."

This pomade stick styles even the most unruly hair.
