It'll hit theaters just in time for spooky season.

Why so serious? The release date for the next Joker movie is finally here!

The Joker 2 sequel is set to hit theaters on October 4, 2024, and will reportedly feature Joaquin Phoenix as the titular star, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Phoenix earned an Oscar for his role as DC Comic's Arthur Fleck/The Joker the first time around—so why fix something that's not broken?

But that's not all! Apparently, Lady Gaga made plans to join the cast for its second feature. While details on her character are still under lock-and-key, we have confirmed Gaga's participation on set.

Another key fact we're sure of is that the film is set to be developed by the same team that dominated movie theaters worldwide with its $1 billion box-office hit, Joker, back in 2019.

The upcoming sequel is said to be directed by Todd Phillips, whose other projects include: A Star Is Born, Due Date, and War Dogs. Phillips also wrote the script alongside original Joker co-writer Scott Silver who is also known for his work on 8 Mile and Disney's The Finest Hours.

Phillips had previously teased the upcoming project on Instagram, when he shared snaps earlier this summer.

In a caption-less post, the filmmaker shared two images: one that featured the cover page to the movie's script as well as it's unofficial title (Joker: Folie à deux), and a second behind-the-scenes photo of Phoenix reviewing the contents within the manuscript's bindings.

While there are still many unknowns surrounding the film (like its full cast or potential feature from other DC characters), we know that the soundtrack will be worth the listen if Lady Gaga has anything to do with it.
