A 42-year-old Johnson Creek man died Wednesday while doing electrical work at a Cudahy car dealership, police said.

Police and fire personnel responded to Ewald's Venus Ford, 2727 E. Layton Ave., shortly before 3:30 p.m. March 29 for a report of an injured person, according to Police Chief Tom Poellot.

The victim, identified as Nicholas Jozefowski by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner, was pronounced dead on the scene, according to police.

Jozefowski had been switching out overhead light fixtures. A co-worker found Jozefowski face down on top of an extended scissor lift and "a wire was hanging from the ceiling above him and he had burns to his hands and face," the ME's report said.

Lifesaving efforts were attempted but unsuccessful and his death was ruled an accident.

Jozefowski was an employee at Ewald Venus Ford for general maintenance for the last five years. He was not a licensed electrician but worked on electrical issues and other odd jobs at the car dealership, according to the report.

The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) assisted with the investigation.
