Johnny Depp’s fans flooded social media with supportive messages last week, following the Daily News Hungary’s report that his band, Hollywood Vampires, had to cancel their concert in Budapest on July 18th at the last minute because he passed out in his hotel room. Medics were reportedly called to the scene, but he was not deemed able to perform, resulting in a last-minute cancellation of the concert.

Papp László Sport Arena was already full of fans when the announcement of the cancellation came. A source cited by Hungarian daily tabloid newspaper Blikk reportedly said: “Everything was prepared, the stage was set, the background crew was also ready for the party. It didn’t even occur to me that there could be a problem, especially since the band members also did the sound setup scheduled for the afternoon. Nobody even thought about the fact that Johnny Depp didn’t take part, a colleague also set up his microphone, but this is not unusual for such stars.”

Hollywood Vampires Cancel Their Budapest Show At The Last Minute

"We heard so much that Depp partied too much, he couldn’t even leave the hotel," the source added. "We also heard that, sure enough, a doctor was called in to see if there was anything more wrong than simply pushing rock stardom too far."

Photos of the 60-year-old Jeanne du Barry actor drinking an hour before the concert emerged on Twitter shortly after the news of the cancellation broke, leaving many fans unimpressed. "Here’s Johnny Depp drinking an hour before canceling his concert due to 'unforeseen circumstances.' He likely passed out again," wrote one fan, alongside a picture. The tweet also read, "Before they come for me, it was confirmed by the photographer. They claim he 'fell ill at the hotel' even though he was drinking right before the alleged illness."

The band didn’t say that the Sweeney Todd actor passing out in his hotel room was the reason for the show being canceled though – either because that's the real truth, or because they didn't want to worry fans. Hollywood Vampires also canceled their show in Slovakia a few days later, but told fans that it was due to technical difficulties and not related to the reports of the Minamata actor passing out. For what's it's worth, the rumors of Depp passing out in his hotel room are currently still rumors, as nothing has been officially confirmed.

"Upon arrival today to the venue in Slovakia to begin set up for tonight’s performance, it quickly became clear that the construction of the facility was incomplete, and therefore unsafe for both the band and the general public," a statement on their official website on July 20th read. "The band is very upset by this recent and unfortunate turn of events, and hope to return when schedules permit," the statement continued, adding, "This cancellation is unrelated to the recent cancellation in Budapest, but we can assure you all bandmembers are safe and healthy. We look forward to seeing you in Poland, Germany and the US in the coming days."

Supportive Fan Comments On Twitter

Judging by the band's Instagram account, it seems like the shows in Poland and Germany did go ahead as scheduled, and it also seems like the band's future shows in the U.S. are also set to go ahead as planned. At the time of writing, there still seem to be a few unanswered questions relating to what *really* happened over the past week or so; however, the band's website and social media team have reassured fans that Depp is okay.

Let's go back in time a few days and take a look at some of the messages fans left for the Pirates of the Caribbean actor after the Budapest concert cancellation. Replying to a July 21st tweet from Twitter account @DailyLoud, which also said it was "Praying for Johnny’s health during this time," one fan said, "We should all pray," while another added, "Hope he's ok."

"Whatever happened, I'm sending prayers, positive vibes and anything else I can muster up," commented another fan, which another echoed, adding, "Praying for Johnny's health." "May he get well soon. Praying for him," added another fan, followed by several heart and prayer hands emojis, as another asked, "Passed out from what?" adding, "It would be sad to lose such a great talent."
