Sources close to Johnny Depp have revealed that the Pirates of the Caribbean star has come to a decision regarding the charities he plans to donate the settlement he's owed from ex-fiancé Amber Heard to. Following the most highly-publicized defamation trial in history, a settlement was agreed upon in December, in which Heard agreed to pay Depp $1 million USD in damages.

The original verdict from the Virginia jury was $10 million USD in compensatory damages and $5 million USD in punitive damages. Meanwhile, Heard was awarded $2 million USD purely in compensatory damages.

"We are pleased to formally close the door on this painful chapter for Mr. Depp, who made clear throughout the process that his priority was about bringing the truth to light,” Depp's layers told CNN in a statement following the settlement agreement.

Depp has chosen five different charities, with an even split of $200,000 USD going to each charity. Those selected include Make a Film Foundation, The Painted Turtle, Red Feather, Teitaroa Society, and Amazonia Fund Alliance. The various organizations look to uplift youth, assist underserved communities, and prevent human encroachment on natural habitats.
