Home Improvement alum Zachery Ty Bryan’s fiancée has broken her silence following his most recent arrest.

Johnnie Faye Cartwright issued an exclusive statement to Us Weekly today, Aug. 1, several days after the former actor was arrested for allegedly violating the Abuse Prevention Act—meaning he's been accused of attacking someone that had previously been granted a restraining order due to domestic violence.

“I’ll always want what’s best for the father of my children,” she told the publication following his charges of assault, robbery and harassment — amounting to two felonies and a misdemeanor. “Trauma can bring struggles in many shapes and forms. It’s a horrible situation that’s going to be spun in so many ways. I’ve learned firsthand the truth will never align with what’s been put out there. I ask everyone to please be respectful of our privacy for the sake of the children and our families so the healing process can begin.”

Bryan was first exposed for his previous DV-related legal troubles on June 22, when The Hollywood Reporter published an investigative report detailing a felony charge for strangulation as well as an arrest for driving under the influence, among other criminal accusations.

Cartwright was allegedly involved in the 2020 domestic incident, just days after Bryan split from his wife, Carly Matros, but he later said it was "blown out of proportion" by the media.

He explained, "We didn’t even really get that physical. We got really loud. We were screaming and because we were in a townhome that had [thin walls], everybody could hear. Johnnie was, at the time, just really upset about my situation." He later made a plea deal for misdemeanor menacing and misdemeanor assault,

He was arrested again on similar charges on July 28, after police were called to a Eugene, Oregon residence for a physical dispute between a man and a woman. Cartwright has not been named in this incident, but the two have been engaged since 2021 and share three children together. Bryan also has four children with Matros.

According to Us Weekly, he remains in police custody.
