During this year's San Diego Comic-Con, fans were treated to a sneak peek of the upcoming 'John Wick' spinoff series, 'The Continental' -- which explores the origins of the hotel that acts as a safe haven and point of operation for assassins in the blockbuster film.

The series is set to release as a three-part event, with its premiere episode going live on September 22, followed by parts two and three on September 29 and October 3 respectively.

As for what we know so far, the series, set in 1970, will explore the origins of the New York City-based hotel through the lens of a younger Winston Scott, played by Colin Woodell. Other members of the cast include Mishel Prada, Ben Robson, Hubert Point-Du Jour, Nhung Kate, Jessica Allain, and more.

Those creating the magic behind the scenes include names like producer and director Albert Hughes, executive producer Marshall Persinger, action director Larnell Tovall and others.

While Keanu Reeves is not expected to be involved in the series, 'The Continental' does carry on the spirit and lore of the blockbuster that first found success in 2017 and has since grown a massive fan base -- the only question is though, will it live up to the films?

In other entertainment news, 'Barbie' and 'Oppenheimer' surpass projections with impressive box office debuts.
