This John Travolta Thriller Is the New #2 Movie on Netflix and It Looks Absolutely Riveting

Based on Don Winslow's novel of the same name, Savages follows Ben Leonard (Aaron Johnson) and Chon McAllister Jr. (Taylor Kitsch), two entrepreneurs who run a successful marijuana business in Laguna Beach. Things are smooth-sailing for the duo, until Elena Sánchez (Salma Hayek), a cartel leader, enters the picture and insists on setting up a partnership for their lucrative business. Ben and Chon try to escape the cartel with their lover, Ophelia Sage (Blake Lively), but when she gets kidnapped, all hell breaks loose. With the help of a corrupt DEA agent named Dennis Cain (Travolta), the pair must go up against the cartel.

The movie also stars Benicio del Toro, Demián Bichir, Sandra Echeverría and Emile Hirsch. It was directed by Academy Award winner Oliver Stone and produced by Moritz Borman and Eric Copeloff.

According to movie critic Roger Ebert, the negotiation scenes are the most compelling. He wrote, "Much of the fascination of Savages comes through Stone's treatment of the negotiations, which involve percentages, sliding scales over three years, an ultimate payout, and other financial details that drugs have in common with big business. It's spellbinding to watch the two sides trying to outthink each other."

Get your popcorn ready, because this sounds like it'll be a good one.
