John Travolta and Jamie Lee Curtis Lead Tributes for Kirstie Alley After Her Death

The actress passed away at the age of 71.

After the news of Kirstie Alley's death, fellow Hollywood stars and friends of the actress paid tribute to her legacy on social media. 

Alley, who was known for her breakout role as Rebecca Howe in the 1987 sitcom Cheers, passed away earlier today after a battle with cancer, according to a statement made by her family

Following the devastating update, John Travolta fondly recalled his time working alongside Alley, sharing a photo of the late actress and a candid picture of the two on Instagram, writing, "Kirstie was one of the most special relationships I’ve ever had. I love you Kirstie. I know we will see each other again."

Fellow actress Jamie Lee Curtis also took to Instagram to share a photo of the two on the set of Scream Queens (2015).

"I've just heard the sad news that Kirstie Alley has died. She was a great comic foil in @tvscreamqueens and a beautiful mama bear in her very real life. She helped me buy onesies for my family that year for Christmas. We agreed to disagree about some things but had a mutual respect and connection. Sad news," she captioned the post.  

Longtime pal Kristin Chenoweth celebrated her years of friendship with Alley alongside a carousel of images on Instagram. "I love you, Kirstie. I will see you again someday. I can’t believe you’re gone," she captioned the teary-eyed tribute. 

Carmen Electra also shared a few throwback photos of the late actress on Instagram, including a behind-the-scenes snap from the 2005 comedy Fat Actress, writing, "#rip to this kind, beautifully talented soul. we love you Kirstie 🤍🕊."

Musician Tito Puente Jr. took to Instagram to post a photo of the two with the caption, "Rest in peace Kirstie Alley. You will be missed and I appreciate that you loved Mambo Music. 🕊🕊🕊."

TV personality and fashion designer Diane Gilman also commemorated the loss with a photo of the two on the set of HSN, "I am the world’s most grateful cheerleader for women redefining their lives and gracefully entering their third acts. Connecting with you through @hsn has been the greatest reward of all."

In a heartfelt statement, actor Clancy Brown–known for his roles in The Shawshank Redemption and Starship Troopers–said, "I loved working with her. There was no one like her on earth."

Director Brett Gursky recalled his "favorite actress of all time," sharing a throwback photo of Kirstie on Instagram.

Country music singer Travis Tritt was "shocked and saddened by the news" of the actress' passing. 

TV personality Megyn Kelly also mourned the actress on Twitter, "This is such sad news. A beautiful, brave, funny and beloved woman. Rest in Peace, Kirstie Alley."
