John Stamos Shares Love Letter to 'Full House' With Throwback Footage

Just weeks after admitting he tried to quit the show following the first table read, John Stamos is sharing a love letter to Full House.
Uploaded on both Instagram and TikTok, Stamos wrote, "The essence of a family isn’t defined by its shape, size or color. Family is where you find belonging and connection, and just know, you’ll always be part of ours," including a hashtag for his upcoming memoir, If You Would Have Told Me, alongside a heartfelt video packed full of behind-the-scene footage from their years filming and a tear-jerking message about the series.
Set to a slower, sadder cover of the show’s theme song, the video opened with footage dated Aug. 15, 1994, where the whole cast stood together outside, seemingly posing for photos, possible for the opening credits of the final season.
“All right, so here’s the thing,” Stamos’s voice rang out over the footage, likely reading an excerpt from the novel. “I finally, truly get it.” In the old video, Stamos joked around with the twins playing his sons, Dylan and Blake Tuomy-Wilhoit, teasing one by tugging on the lollipop in his mouth. “It’s more than a show; it’s a family.”
“It’s everyone’s family,” he continued as the footage changed to an undated moment on the soundstage, where everyone screamed and laughed as Dave Coulier, who played Joey, threw his head back and yelled, “Never wipe your butt with your shoes!”
"For mom, dad, and their 2.3 children, it's their family." The next clip showed one of the Olsen Twins trying to get Stamos' name right, calling him Jesse and then Joey as he coaxed her to say "John."
“Or the latchkey kid coming home to an empty house; it’s her family.” Over a clip of the late Bob Saget, who played widower Danny Tanner, doing standup, he said, “For a widower who turns up the sound a little louder to stave off the silence of his loneliness, it’s his family.”
The voiceover continued, “This struggling little show I fought with every fiber of my being would become a highlight in my career. Full House turned out to be one of the most quintessentially important family shows of the 20th century.”
More clips flashed by, including the moment Uncle Jesse was covered in liquified concrete in the kitchen and the moment DJ was gifted a car.
“This was a show where the central character wasn’t any single role,” his voice added. “It was love.” Before the montage ended, a clip from the series’ wrap rolled, showing the cast taking their final bows to the studio audience.
"I love my Full House family so much. And all of you will get to be part of it when you read #IfYouWouldHaveToldMe," Coulier added in the comments. "Great work, @johnstamos Everyone’s going to love this! Love you❤️."
Fans on both platforms also expressed their love for the '90s sitcom, with one writing, "I love this. Really sums up what Full House means to so many of us."
"You should be so incredibly proud John Stamos !!!!!!" wrote another.
"This video & voice over literally takes my breath away & brings tears to my eyes 😭," another comment read.
"Full House has been my 'safe show' my entire life. Thank you for that. Saved me so many nights, for so many years," someone else opened up.
