John Rattray Sits Down With Nike SB Rider, Hayley Wilson for a Powerful Talk on Skateboarding and Mental Health

Nike SB continues their Why So Sad? conversation series with Australian ripper, @hayleykwilson as she sits down with @ratt_ray to discuss mental health, preparing for skateboarding’s biggest contest, and generally how she's approaching skateboarding these days.

Similar to the other interviews in this inspiring series, John and Hayley spare no time to get into the nitty-gritty details of the mind and how skateboarding plays a role in the grand scheme of things.

From the heavy pressure of skating contests and traveling to maintaining happiness off the board, every person on the planet is going through one thing or another, and conversations like these are incredibly important—whether you believe you're the strongest willed person in existence or someone dealing with heavy anxiety, depression or any other mental health issues.

A little talk can go a long way. You just have to start the conversation.

"I think at times it can be difficult [to discuss mental health]. Just because it is scary, or it can be triggering for some people, maybe including myself," says Hayley. "But I think it's important to be able to talk about it, because it opens it up for everyone. There are a lot of people out there that feel like they can't and feel like it’s weak. I think it's so important for us to have these conversations."

Do yourself a favor and read the whole interview here. It's a great conversation, one I guarantee we can all benefit from one way or another.
