Model, author, and unofficial queen of Twitter, Chrissy Teigen, has been with the EGOT-winning singer and The Voice judge John Legend for twelve years (they’ve been married for five) and have two adorable children together. And in that time, they’ve taken what it means to be a social media official couple to another level (Chrissy even crowned John the ultimate Instagram Husband).

From romantic milestones to everyday moments (like when they lived out everyone's Vanderpump Rules dreams at TomTom), Chrissy and John give fans a glimpse into their dreamy life together with every post. But wait, where did their love story begin? Well, it all started one fall day...

September 14, 2006: John and Chrissy meet.

Chrissy and John's relationship began when she was cast to play John’s love interest in his music video for R&B song "Stereo." After a 12-hour shoot filled with dancing and bedroom eyes, the pair worked up an appetite-and major chemistry. Years later, during a 2014 appearance on the Wendy Williams Show, Chrissy revealed that she went to say goodbye to John at his hotel, but, spoiler alert, that didn’t happen.

Instead, they ate In-N-Out and hooked up. "We spent 12 hours together, so that’s like 12 dates right?" Chrissy said in a 2018 interview with Elle UK. They couldn’t help it, they clicked so well. "Every time someone asks John for a selfie and he says, 'I never do this'," Chrissy jokingly tweeted in 2015, "I think back to the night we met when I said it, but not about selfies." (Same.)

Despite their fiery start, Chrissy and John simmered down when he went on tour in 2007. "I let him be himself for a while," Chrissy told Cosmopolitan in 2014. They talked and texted while he was on the road, and John got acquainted with Chrissy’s wit.

But before reaching power couple status, Chrissy and John had one blip in their budding relationship. Chrissy visited John on tour, and one day, he said he wanted to be single. Chalking it up to stress, Chrissy called his bluff. "[The break up] lasted for one day. Literally a day," she recalled in a 2016 interview with Cosmopolitan. "I knew it came from a place other than us not working." Thankfully, John came to his senses, and it was just a fluke.

2007: They take their first (of many) trips to Lake Como, Italy.

After the breakup scare and texting sprees, Chrissy and John took their first couples vacay to Lake Como in 2007. The Italian destination quickly became their place, and they’ve gone back many times since. It’s also, btw, where they fell in love.

"A boat tour guide took us to a little spot on the lake and told us to make a wish," Chrissy reminiced on Instagram during a 2016 visit. "I asked for this to be the man I marry and have children with. I think John asked for the most perfect bite of cacio e pepe. Both came true."

December 2011: John proposes during Christmas at the Maldives.

After four years of dating and tons of engagement rumors, John proposed during vacation in the Maldives-but with some added drama.

On FABLife, Chrissy said that when they exchanged Christmas gifts before the trip, she was caught off-guard because he gave her a cookbook and Crock-Pot. While she loves shiny kitchen appliances, Chrissy was hoping for something, uh, else shiny that year. The couple ended up fighting about the gifts while driving to their flight. "I remember him going, 'You just wait!' And I was like, 'Wait for what?!'" she said.

Later at the airport, security wanted to look through the bag where John had stashed the ring. Of course, Chrissy was right there. "I was like, 'Oh my God. I’ve hid it so well this whole time," John said on Oprah’s Next Chapter. "'I’ll have to get on my knees in the airport.'" Luckily, airport security just decided not to look in the box the ring was in, so his secret was safe.

Then, as soon as they reached the beach, the plan was back on track. John set up a romantic dinner where a waiter served Chrissy a silver dome during dessert. She found the ring in a bed of arugula. "There was no speech but yeah, I cried," Chrissy told Elle UK.

June 2013: Legend dedicates song "All of Me" to Chrissy.

Talk about romantic gestures. On Oprah’s Next Chapter, John performed his hit song, "All of Me," which he penned for Chrissy. (Ever heard of it?) They filmed the music video in Lake Como-no surprise there-complete with wedding footage at the end.

"All of Me" scored John a Grammys nomination for Best Pop Solo Performance in 2014 and melted millions of hearts along the way. Three years later, the pair returned to the house where the music video was filmed to reenact it and introduce baby Luna to the romantic-turned-family destination.

September 14, 2013: They marry in Lake Como.

Exactly seven years after they first met, Chrissy and John wed in Lake Como in a self-described elegant and rustic ceremony. "We thought it would be nice to marry where we fell in love," John told Martha Stewart Weddings. Swoon.

But wait: They nearly forgot to make their marriage official. "We are dumb and didn’t realize that our Italian wedding would not be recognized unless we had a real ceremony in New York City," Chrissy said in a 2013 interview with E! News. Days before they flew to Italy, they ran to the courthouse to seal the deal.

October 12, 2015: "We are pregnant!"

Come fall of 2015, Chrissy took to Instagram to share that they successfully conceived through IVF. "We’ve been trying to have a baby for a while now," she wrote. "It hasn’t been easy, but we kept trying because we can’t wait to bring our first child into the world and grow our family."

Even with their happy news, Chrissy has been open about the difficulty of her fertility struggles. The IVF treatment didn’t work the first time, and she and John were devastated. "When you go through IVF, it does feel like, 'Oh, it’s not fair I have to do all this,'" Chrissy told The Cut in 2018. "Still, it’s a complete miracle when it works."

April 14, 2016: Luna arrives.

And it was! Chrissy and John welcomed Luna Simone Stephens into the world in the spring of 2016. "To everyone asking, john is healing perfectly," Chrissy joked on Twitter.

After Luna’s birth, Chrissy struggled with postpartum depression. Opening up to Glamour, she said John was an "incredible" support. "I know he must look over at times and think: My God, get it together. But he has never made me feel that way," she said. "I love John and Luna more than I can imagine loving anything...postpartum hasn’t changed that."

November 21, 2017: Luna announces baby number two is on the way.

"Luna, what’s in here?" Chrissy asks in the above video, pointing to her stomach. "Baby," Luna adorably replies. Gah!

Months later, on January 28, 2018, Chrissy posted an Instagram of her Grammys look and revealed she was pregnant with a boy. Once again, the couple conceived through IVF and shared on Twitter they were having a boy because a male embryo was the one they had left.

May 16, 2018: Welcome Miles!

As soon as Miles Theodore Stephens arrived, the comparisons to John began. The little one’s resemblance to his dad is so uncanny, Chrissy can’t help but call him John’s twin or mini-John.

September 9, 2018: John scores EGOT status.

Chrissy and John are constantly praising each other’s career achievements. So when he snagged an Emmy to complete his historical EGOT win (meaning he has an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony), Chrissy immediately shared her support. "My incredible man. What a surreal life," she wrote on Instagram.

September 14, 2018: They celebrate their five-year wedding anniversary.

"12 years ago today, I met the man of my dreams. And 5 years ago today, we got married... I love you and am so proud of the story we’ve created," Chrissy shared on Instagram. In true Chrissy and John fashion, though, that’s not all she wrote. "But you are an asshole for releasing your @nbcthevoice news on my target launch day for real."

John followed suit, setting up his 9.9 million followers up to expect an awww-worthy post before hitting them with a not-so-sly-but-totally-cheeky plug for Chrissy’s Target kitchenware line and second cookbook. What can they say? Mixing genuine words of love with a couple LOL moments is their specialty.

November 12, 2018: John presents Chrissy with Glamour’s Women of the Year award.

The couple who wins awards together, stays together. At least, that seems to be John and Chrissy's relationship motto. Not only did Chrissy win a Women of the Year award, but John introduced her with encouraging words on how she fits alongside powerful women. "You are our everything," Chrissy responded during her acceptance speech. "We’ve grown together. Our family’s grown together. Our careers have grown together. This is so sappy, I’m sorry. I hate it." (Um, I don't...)

Now: They're still celebrating each other, their children, their love-and sharing it with the world.

Since John joined The Voice as the fourth coach, he and Chrissy have made the set their "second home," as Chrissy casually explains to fellow coach Kelly Clarkson in a cute promo for the show.

The video also gave fans a little (and probs exaggerated) peek into Chrissy and John's life together. And while John's singing "can be a lot," according to his loving wife, when he's not doing his favorite thing, he's helping Chrissy with hers. Just this past Sunday, the couple cooked a drool-worthy dinner together and, of course, posted it on social media.

So while no relationship is perfect, that mac and cheese proves these two are pretty darn close.
