What John Legend Privately Texted Kanye West After His Twitter Spree

When Kanye West logged onto Twitter this week, he did so to share his thoughts—but not without consequence.

The rapper clarified his support of President Donald Trump alongside videos by cartoonist Scott Adams, who is a vocal supporter of Trump, men's rights activist, and critic of Black Lives Matter.

Some of West's comments caught fans by surprise, including fellow celebrities. His wife Kim Kardashian took to Twitter to show support for her husband, but not everyone was as cool with it as she seemed to be.

Pop Crave reports that stars including Rihanna, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd, Harry Styles, Ariana Grande, and BTS unfollowed West after his tweets about Trump gained traction.

While following and unfollowing is a passive action, other stars took a more direct approach.

John Legend seemed to address the situation on Twitter Wednesday night in a series of tweets, concluding with the thought "I love that great, brilliant artists have the power to imagine a better future. But artists can't be blind to the truth."

He also texted West directly, which we know because West went on to publish their texts on Twitter.

Legend's response to it all? To be kind and also promote his new single (which is out right now).

Legend's wife Chrissy Teigen also said something by gently reminding fans that she does not have to weigh in.

Pretty classy if you ask us.

Even with the back and forth between West and Legend though, all is well between their wives, Kim Kardashian and Chrissy Teigen. The two took time to coordinate dinner plans after the Twitter spree played out. "are we still doing dinner Friday or no lol" Teigen tweeted at Kardashian, who replied, "Yes but maybe no phones."
