Funny, charming and perhaps one of the sweetest hunks in Hollywood, John Krasinski has been the face behind some of our favorite movies and TV shows of the last two decades. Whether it be the sarcastic yet charming Jim Halpert in The Office or certified action hero in Jack Ryan, we love seeing his talents on full display.

John Krasinski's intro to acting

Born in Boston and raised in Newton, Massachusetts, the 44-year-old actor took on his very first role (as none other than Daddy Warbucks) in a sixth grade school production of Annie.

Krasinski's smarts landed him a spot at Brown University, where he studied English and playwriting before moving to New York post-graduation. While making a name for himself in the Big Apple, he worked as a a scriptwriting intern at Late Night with Conan O'Brien.

As far as kickstarting his acting career, Krasinski did commercials and guest-starred on various shows while waiting tables. His big break came in 2004 when he was cast in the ensemble comedy, The Office, which remains his most notable role despite his celebrated accomplishments since then.

Jim Halpert and beyond

The Office not only put Krasinki's comedy chops on display, but also turned him into something of a heartthrob — as his on-screen romance with Jenna Fischer's Pam remains one of the most iconic fictional couplings to date.

In recent years, the Massachusetts native has truly expanded his range, not only in terms of genre: John Krasinski stepped behind the camera to direct his first feature film, A Quiet Place (2018), which he also starred in alongside his wife, Emily Blunt.

He reprised his director role in the 2020 sequel starring Blunt once again, with none other than Cillian Murphy — four years before the Oppenheimer hype!

10. It's Complicated (2009)

It's Complicated stars Meryl Streep as Jane, a divorced woman whose marriage ended when her ex (Alec Baldwin) had an affair with a much younger woman. The two remain friends in the wake of their divorce, but the term gets complicated when they begin an affair — and Jane is now "the other woman."

Meanwhile, Jane's architect Adam (Steve Martin) has also taken a liking to her, complicating things with her ex and creating something of a love triangle for her to grapple with.

Krasinski plays the role of Harley, the man engaged to their daughter who catches the two together and must keep their secret.

9. Something Borrowed (2011)

Rachel (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Dex (Colin Egglesfield) were law school friends, with Rachel harboring a long-time crush on him. When Dex meets Rachel's friend Darcy (Kate Hudson), they eventually end up romantically involved after Rachel says she and Dex are just friends.

Fast forward to present day, Darcy and Dex are engaged, and one night, he kisses her in a shared cab ride home after a surprise birthday party Darcy threw for her. Now, Rachel must make a choice.

John Krasinski stars as Ethan, Rachel's friend and confidant who is keeping Rachel's secret, as well as one of his own.

8. Jack Ryan (2018 - 2023)

Based on the character of Jack Ryan written by Tom Clancy, John Krasinski brings to life the title role of a CIA analyst who essentially works a desk job.

When he notices a series of suspicious bank transfers, he is taken from the comfort of his usual position and put out into the field to investigate what's really behind these transactions — and more importantly, who.

Each season has his character addressing new threats and will leave you wanting more episode after episode.

7. Away We Go (2009)

Verona (Maya Rudolph) and Burt (Krasinski) are a couple in their early thirties who learn they're expecting. Dissatisfied with the current state of their lives and their inability to make ends meet, they are unsure of how and where they will raise their child.

Coming to the realization that they aren't tied to one place, they begin traveling across the country, reuniting with old friends and family, to determine where it is they wish to settle.

Along the way, the people and adventures they experience give them a new perspective on life and allow them to see the uncertainty of their future in a different light.

6. Promised Land (2012)

Steve (Matt Damon) and Sue (Frances McDormand) work for an energy company, Global Crosspower Solutions. The duo set their sights on a Pennsylvania farming town with the intention of convincing the residents to sign leases that would allow their company to frack on their land.

They anticipate it being a simple task, until they're met with Dustin (Krasinski), an environmental activist who will do everything in his power to convince the townspeople not to trust them.

John Krasinski plays Jack Silva, a man a part of the Annex Security Team who came to the defense of the US Consulate in Benghazi, Libya when they were attacked in 2011 by militants. This gripping films tells a true story.
