The US ambassador to Australia visited Queensland for the first time.

John F. Kennedy's daughter Caroline Kennedy had a blast on her first trip to Queensland, Australia.

In an Instagram video shared by the United States Embassy in Australia, Kennedy took some time out of her trip for a surfing lesson in the picturesque setting of Kirra Beach.

The caption reads, "Ambassador Kennedy is in Queensland, and what better way to start her first visit to the Sunshine State than a surf lesson…with 3 x World Champion surfer, Mick Fanning, at Kirra Beach! Huge thank you @mfanno for an unforgettable afternoon! What a legend."

The post ended with humorous hashtags celebrating Kennedy's surfing skills,  "#SheDidAlright #StoodUpTwice."

Fanning left a comment under the video, expressing gratitude for his time teaching the ambassador how to surf. "So welcome. Wish the waves were a little better. Next time. Honoured to meet you," he wrote.

Kennedy also gave a video recap of her first time in Queensland, where she spoke about how much protecting Australia's ecosystem means to her.

"I'm so lucky to be here in this beautiful place, learning about the work they're doing to protect the reef, protect the ocean and all the creatures in it. I've learned so much here in Queensland and I've made lots of new memories," she said in the clip.

The US Embassy Australia account gave additional insight into Kennedy's work, including her meetings with organizations dedicated to protecting the Great Barrier Reef.

Kennedy was nominated by President Joe Biden as the United States ambassador to Australia in 2021 and was selected for the position in June 2022. President Barack Obama had previously selected her to be the ambassador to Japan, but she resigned under Donald Trump's presidency.
