Before we saw Jacob Elordi play brooding athlete Nate Jacobs on Euphoria and take on the role of Elvis Presley in Sofia Coppola's Priscilla, the Australian actor got his start as Noah Flynn in Netflix's The Kissing Booth franchise. Throughout the years, Jacob has been honest about his opinions on the movies, and even went on to say it was the one movie he worked on "for them." "Them" being... the fans? Or the production company, or streamer? It's unclear, but what is clear is his apparent distaste for the teen rom-com.

Most recently, Jacob opened up in his GQ Men of the Year cover story about his role in the films. "I didn't want to make those movies before I made those movies," he told the outlet. "Those movies are ridiculous. They're not universal. They're an escape."

Enter: his Kissing Booth co-star and ex-girlfriend, Joey King, who was asked about Jacob's comments at the Balenciaga fashion show in Los Angeles on Saturday, December 2. Joey didn't seem to agree with his take on the movies, telling Variety, "I think it's unfortunate anyone would feel that way. I had a great time making those movies no matter what anyone says."

Joey isn't the only cast member to react to Jacob's comments. Taylor Zakhar Perez, who played Marco in the second and third Kissing Booth movies, also revealed his thoughts to Variety during GQ's Men of the Year event in LA on November 16.

"I thought it was a shame because to my knowledge, everybody else had such a wonderful experience," the Red, White & Royal Blue star said.

"It's a shame that was his experience on the set. Especially when those movies came out, it was a time when we really needed something like that," Taylor continued, referencing the COVID-19 lockdown that took place when the movies dropped. "I know from our fan interactions, getting stopped everywhere I go, what ‘Kissing Booth’ means to people and what it brought them during such a dark time. I guess the silver lining is he still made people laugh and feel good."

Per Variety, Jacob "deflected" his initial take on The Kissing Booth by saying, "I'm incredibly grateful to everybody in it" during the event.
