Joey King's Golden Globes 2020 Red Carpet Dress is an Optical Illusion

Joey King hit the Golden Globes 2020 red carpet in a stunning black and white Iris Van Herpen dress that gave us serious optical illusion vibes. The actress, who was nominated for the Best Actress in a Mini-series or Motion Picture for TV award for her role as Gypsy Rose Blanchard in Hulu's The Act, looked chic and modern in the ruffled knee-length dress with a sheer high neck, shoulder cutouts, and dramatic black and white striped "wings" that fluttered as she moved.

According to Joey, the dress was love at first sight. "My stylist grabbed this ... I put it on and was like, 'Yep! This is the look.'" Joey shared with E! live from the carpet. The actress paired the statement-making dress with a pair of white ankle-strap heels and diamond earrings, and kept her beauty look equally simple with a low chignon, shimmery silver eyes, and rosy lips and cheeks — a very Joey beauty moment that we'll be duplicating for our next big event. (Or maybe just next weekend!)

The dress is right off the Iris Van Herpen runway, and is part of her couture "Hypnosis" collection — hence the optical illusion look. The dress, with its sheer panels and black and white stripes, almost seems alive, and appears to move the longer you stare at it. The Dutch designer has also dressed celebrities including Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, and Solange.

We're loving this dramatic, bold sartorial choice for Joey's big night. Joey's style evolution has been inspiring us since her early days on the red carpet, and her Golden Globes 2020 red carpet moment may just be our favorite one yet.
