Joel Edgerton Just Showed Off His Shredded Abs on the Beach in Australia
Joel Edgerton has slimmed down and toned up. While surfing in Bondi, Australia this week, he 46-year-old actor was photographed looking considerably leaner and more ripped than he was in beach photos from just last month. He's also sporting visibly defined six-pack abs.
Like so many others, it seems like Edgerton is been making the most of his pandemic-related downtime to amp up his fitness—and according to a recent interview, he's low-key loving the break from his hectic work schedule.
"I've decided I want to be a renaissance man by the end of this whole situation," he told Australian Story. "I am also aware that I'm very lucky and I do have gratitude for it, because I sit around here and I feel guilty now that I'm having a great old time. I don't have to dress up, don't have to go anywhere. Don't have to impress any people. I don't go into crowded rooms and I feel incredible."
Edgerton is no stranger to dramatic physical transformations, of course. Although it's unclear whether his newly lean physique is in anticipation of a role, he has certainly undergone exhaustive training programs previously in his career, having bulked up like hell to play a number of roles, including an MMA fighter opposite Tom Hardy in 2011's Warrior, and a member of SEAL Team Six in 2012's Zero Dark Thirty.
Although, as he told Men's Health UK after shooting Exodus: Gods & Kings, the intensive physical training actually helps him get into this hypermasculine characters. "I can fake it. I’m not a real man in real life!" He joked. "But there’s definitely a glee in playing tough guys."
