From Oprah Magazine

  • Sofía Vergara and husband Joe Manganiello have been married since 2014, and haven't stopped gibing us adorable PDA moments since.

  • The two began dating in June of 2014 and were engaged six months later.

  • "When you know, you know, and we knew right away-like, very quickly,” Manganiello once told Haute Living. Relive their entire dating history.

Though Sofía Vergara and Joe Manganiello have been together since 2014, it certainly feels like they’ve been together forever. On the red carpet, these two never fail to smolder for the cameras. And on Instagram, the couple regularly post cute, affectionate images of each other.

These two are undeniably head over heels, which is funny, considering Manganiello once told People that his celebrity crush was Vergara. “Sofía Vergara, that’s it,” he said. “She’s got the butt, she’s got curves, she’s got a beautiful face, beautiful hair, just gorgeous. And she’s feisty!”

Shortly after they started dated, Vergara opened up about her new guy during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2014. “He’s a great guy - super fun, super normal, and we clicked. He’s super easy to hang out with,” she told DeGeneres.

In honor of their love and how they managed to find the one-any tips, Joe?- we pieced together a timeline of their relationship, from their first encounter to their wedding day.

May 2014: Sofía Vergara and Joe Manganiello

Vergara and Manganiello crossed paths at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in May of 2014. Although Vergara was still with her ex-fiance Nick Loeb at the time, Manganiello admits to checking her out-and there's even proof of that.

“Yeah, I totally got busted. That was actually funny when we first started dating, months after that,” he told E! News in 2014. “We had talked I guess, or kind of bumped into each other, but we didn't start dating until she was single. I mean, she had a boyfriend at that time, so I probably could have got in a fight for doing that. I'm not trying to start a fight at the White House.”

While Manganiello first admired Vergara from afar, he also managed to pose with her for a photo that night.

June 2014: Sofía Vergara and Joe Manganiello go on their first date.

Vergara and her ex split in May 2014, and soon after, Manganiello asked her Modern Family co-star Jesse Tyler Ferguson for her number. The two secretly went on their first date on June 15, and understandably, Vergara had some reservations about jumping into a new situation right after her split from Loeb.

“Our first date was her giving me every reason why it would never work out,” he told Haute Living. "Like, 'You're too young, you're an actor, you're this, you're that,' and she was just doing it to hear herself say it. She was trying to talk herself out of going there."

At the time, Vergara was filming Hot Pursuit in New Orleans and, sweetly enough, Manganiello actually flew out from Los Angeles to see her. Despite the initial jitters, the two continued seeing each other- and it didn’t take the public much longer to realize there was something going on.

July 2014: Rumors begin to swirl that they're dating.

Fans started piecing together all of the evidence that these two were romantically linked: Candid photos of them kissing. Weekend trips to Miami. Birthday celebrations at Nobu. Lady Gaga concert tickets.

In July of 2014, the couple slowly but surely started becoming more public, posing the obvious question: Are they a thing? All signs pointed to maybe.

August 2014: Vergara confirms she's with Manganiello.

During an interview with Extra, Vergara confirmed that she and Manganiello were indeed an item.

“You know, I'm just having a great time. It's a special time in my life, and I'm trying not to think too much about it,” she said on-air. “It's something very new, so we will see what happens.” When the Extra reporter followed up by asking if Vergara’s family approved of Joe, she responded, “What is there not to approve of?” Soon after, she posted an Instagram photo of herself and a glorious bouquet of red roses, which we can safely assume came from Manganiello.

November 2014: They decide to spend Thanksgiving-and move in-together.

Here's when things started to get serious. Over Thanksgiving, Vergara posted a series of photos to Instagram, showcasing her family’s celebrations with Manganiello at her side. “Giving thanks for a beautiful year and all my loved ones. Happy Thanksgiving!!” she wrote.

Later in the month, the two moved in together. Vergara actually attended a taping of Ellen on the day they were moving, and DeGeneres joked that since they're neighbors, she spotted their friends helping with the big life change.

“I left him home packing my things,” Vergara said, laughing. “We’ve had help, and he’s doing his stuff. He has a lot of books that I don’t know where I’m going to put. We have a wine cellar and I was like, oh, maybe that’s where we should put them instead of wine.’ He doesn’t want to put them in storage!”

December 2014: Manganiello proposes to Vergara-in Spanish.

In early December, Manganiello was spotted at a jewelry store in Los Angeles, sparking rumors of a looming engagement. He initially intended to make his big move during their trip to Hawaii over Christmas, but his plans of proposing on the beach were foiled by paparazzi who caught wind that the couple was at the St. Regis in Kauai. Instead, he popped the question inside their suite, which proved to be just as romantic.

“Our first date was in June, and then I proposed to her on Christmas Eve; [we dated for] about six months. When you know, you know, and we knew right away-like, very quickly,” he told Haute Living. “We had this big bay window [that I opened up], and the sun was going down pink over the mountains and over the bay, and I had this ring. I had looked at every ring in the world, and this is the ring that I wanted. I had a whole speech prepared in Spanish. I proposed to her on one knee in Spanish with the sun going down. It was awesome.”

November 2015: Vergara and Manganiello get married.

A year after moving in together, Vergara and Manganiello threw a wedding so glorious, it almost appeared to be something out of a fairytale. Both stars’ cast mates from True Blood and Modern Family were in attendance, with dreamy floral decorations by Jeff Latham at The Breakers resort in Palm Beach, Florida.

Initially planned as an intimate celebration, the guest list reportedly ended up being around 400 people. Vergara wore a Zuhair Murad gown, and the couple celebrated their first dance to Frank Sinatra’s “The Way You Look Tonight.” Pitbull also made an appearance as a surprise performer.

We assume our invite simply got lost in the mail.

December 2015: The two honeymoon in Turks and Caicos.

Following their dream wedding, Vergara and Manganiello flew off to the Parrot Cay Resort in Turks and Caicos. Vergara shared photos of the two of them lounging on the beach, basking in the sun, and generally just living their best lives. Married bliss is real, and their glorious vacation snaps are proof.
