Joe Jonas Had to Explain the "No One" Meme to Nick Jonas

“I explained this to you like 400 times.”

It’s a tale as old as (digital) time: the youngest children in the family usually tend to be more Internet savvy, but it turns out that dynamic isn’t the case when it comes to Joe Jonas and Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers.

In a new segment the trio did with Twitter Music called Fan Tweets, Joe opened up about how he constantly has to explain memes to Nick. While the trio reacted to some of the fans’ best moments — from their reunion to their new album, documentary, tour… you get the gist — Nick made an honest confession: he does not get the “no one” memes.

Reacting to a comment after their book announcement by user @needycv that followed the popular meme pattern, Nick could not help but open up for the rest of us. “Oh, this is the thing I never understand,” he announced while reading the tweet. The memes in question are probably familiar if you spend a lot of time online.

And though he swiftly claimed he did understand that one specifically, Joe dropped the JB intel. “He doesn’t understand memes and he didn’t get this one,” he jokingly (though with some slight seriousness) asserted. “I explained this to you like 400 times.”

And it might not be an exaggeration, as Nick still seemed, ehm, quite puzzled by the meme’s apparently simple formula. “I just don’t understand why the no one part isn’t an explanation,” he then utters.

It looks like Joe isn’t fighting the meme battle alone as Kevin also felt the need to jump in to help Nick. “It means ‘no one asked for it but this is what we’re doing!’” he joyfully explained to his younger brother.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Joe has had to impart some Internet knowledge to his younger brother. In a Harper’s Bazaar interview from June, Joe illustrated the band’s break-up with the classic “This Is Fine” meme — to, unsurprisingly, Nick’s bewilderment.

“At some point [the band] got so dysfunctional that we didn’t even let in outside writers. [...] Not to speak of memes, but it was like that dog and the burning house: ‘This is fine’,” Joe illustrated back then. “Which meme?” Nick then asked, Joe providing a very thorough explanation. Peak brotherly love. “It’s a dog in a burning house. He’s a smiling cartoon dog, and he’s like, ‘This is fine.’ That was us.”

“I love that you just referenced a meme in an interview,” Nick then responded. To which Joe said, "It's a very popular meme, Nick."

We’re praying to the Internet gods Kevin and Joe will always be there to help Nick brush up on his meme knowledge — it looks like he's going to need it.
