Joe Alwyn Offered a Rare Comment About His Relationship With Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn's relationship has colored much of Taylor's music in the past, but there's still much we don't know about them as a couple.

That's why when one of them opens up about their relationship, it's such a fascinating topic. Actor Joe Alwyn did just that in a recent interview with The Times, where he spoke about the edgy adaptation of A Christmas Carol he stars in as well as what it's like to date one of the biggest pop stars in the world.

Joe kept things pretty short and sweet, but did note that he feels it's "flattering" that Taylor is often inspired by their relationship for a variety of songs, especially one of her latest: "London Boy," which has brought a smile to many a Lover fan's face.

He also turned his attention to a topic that's always a concern for the couple: how everyone appears absolutely obsessed with their relationship as well as all of the rumors that continue to swirl around them. His solution for dealing with it all? He just doesn't focus on it.

"I just don’t pay attention to what I don’t want to pay attention to," he said. "I turn everything else down on a dial. I don’t have any interest in tabloids. I know what I want to do, and that’s this, and that’s what I am doing."

But with that in mind, he was quick to shoot down incorrect reports, such as the fact that Taylor could just hop a plane at any time to see him. As it turns out, he explained, "99.9 percent" of what the press spins up about him with Taylor is "false."

Now that Joe's opened up about spending time with Taylor in a relationship, we likely won't be hearing more in the near future since this was a rare treat as-is – but it's totally understandable that they like to keep things low-key.

Previously, Taylor explained to The Guardian back in August that the couple continues to purposefully spend as little time in public as possible precisely for that reason.

"I’ve learned that if I do, people think it’s up for discussion, and our relationship isn’t up for discussion. If you and I were having a glass of wine right now, we’d be talking about it – but it’s just that it goes out into the world," she said. "That’s where the boundary is, and that’s where my life has become manageable. I really want to keep it feeling manageable."
