Actress Jodie Turner Smith just released an irresistible sneak peek on Twitter of the long-awaited psychological thriller Anne Boleyn, which is finally set to arrive on the U.K.'s Channel 5 this month.

Turner-Smith, who stars in the series, posted the preview of the series, writing, "finally!!! Anne Boleyn is coming to @channel5_tv this month!!!!" She additionally posted the preview on Instagram: "you may know the history... but are you sure you know HER story? i hope you all watch and see! 👸🏿🦚💛😻💃🏿🗡," she wrote in the caption.

Written by Eve Hedderwick and directed by Lynsey Miller, the three-part drama centers on Anne Boleyn, the real-life historical Tudor queen and wife of the infamously philandering King Henry VIII. The story takes place in the final months of her life, as she boldly navigates the oppressive patriarchal conditions of the era with impressive dignity. "Fear can be fuel. Let your fear drive you to be bigger," the actress regally declares in one of the previewed scenes.

Despite the backlash she previously received for portraying the European historical figure as a Black woman, Turner-Smith strives to center her portrayal around the humanity of the role. “Whether a woman is a queen or a housekeeper, she is not exempt from any of the challenges and trials that women face in navigating their bodies, love or the patriarchy,” she told ELLE. “There’s an opportunity to tell a really human story and for it to feel that much more accessible because a Black woman is playing her.”

Turner-Smith also told Variety, “Anne Boleyn is such a fascinating woman and I was really excited to play her, to get to unpack some of the things that we’re imagining internally she was going through."

The actress reportedly said that her favorite part of the role was "how incredibly polarizing she is as a person." Hopefully, this means the drama will keep us all at the edge of our seats.
