Jodie Turner-Smith and Joshua Jackson have decided to end their whirlwind relationship.
The actors first connected through R&B singer Usher, at his star-studded birthday bash in 2018, and from then embarked on a romance that led to a proposal only months later. The pair married soon after and welcomed their first child, a daughter named Juno. This week, after nearly four years of marriage, Turner-Smith filed for divorce from Jackson.

October 3, 2023: Joshua is reportedly “heartbroken” over the split.
A source for the Daily Mail claims Jackson is taking the breakup hard.
“Joshua is heartbroken over the impending divorce, he always thought that he would be married and grow old with his family, and everything would be happily ever after,” the source claims. “He had the dream scenario in his mind, and Jodie was his person and the person he thought he would be with forever.”
The insider adds that their daughter plays a role in Jackson’s disappointment over the situation. “He never wanted this for their daughter,” they continue. “They both are great parents and will continue to be, he just hates that they won’t be together as a couple for their daughter anymore. They will always be connected through her.”
Jackson has reportedly not dismissed the idea of reuniting with Turner-Smith. “He would have loved nothing more than to still be with Jodie and in a perfect world would probably even take her back if she were to stop the divorce, but now that they have got to this place, he is going to have to accept it,” the source says.
As for why the split occurred, the insider explains, “Nothing horrible happened between the two like infidelity, the relationship just went its course, and it is just a sad time. Joshua isn’t thrilled about it, but as we all know, life doesn’t always work out the way you’d like it to work out.”
October 2, 2023: Jodie files for divorce.
Turner-Smith files for divorce from Jackson in Los Angeles Superior Court, according to People. In the filing, she requests 50/50 shared custody of their daughter, three-year-old Juno.
TMZ notes that Turner-Smith cited “irreconcilable differences” and that the two formally separated on September 13.
March 12, 2023: Jodie and Joshua attend the Vanity Fair Oscars After-Party together.
The two make a joint appearance at Vanity Fair's after-party following the 95th Academy Awards and bring on the loving PDA on the red carpet.
September 21, 2022: They open up about what they love most about each other.
The two express the extent of their mutual respect and awe for one another in a joint interview with Forbes.
"The joy it is to watch her be in the process and be becoming a mother and how honored I feel to get to be next to that—to witness it, to watch it grow, to hopefully nurture it in its growth," Jackson tells the outlet. "I love how empowered my wife is inside of that fashion space—how much it is a source of joy and that bleeds into her home life, as well. I love watching my wife be able to be uplifted and celebrated and seeing how fed she is by that makes me a very, very happy man when I get to see that."
Meanwhile, Turner-Smith opens up about why she first fell for Jackson and continues to love him.
"When I met Josh and one of the biggest reasons why I married him, wanted him to be my husband, is because of how loved and supported I felt by him," she says. The two make their first appearance on the red carpet as a couple for the premiere of Turner-Smith's film Queen & Slim. Both wear Gucci looks for the occasion—Turner-Smith a silk lilac gown and Jackson a three-piece suit—and they appear to hint at an engagement or marriage with their accessories.
