What do actress JoAnna Garcia Swisher and her Sweet Magnolias character, Maddie Townsend, have in common? They both have a soft spot for baseball players! Similar to Maddie (who started dating baseball coach Cal in Season 2), Swisher found her happily ever after with a former professional athlete. In 2009, the actress fell in love with New York Yankee Nick Swisher, who proposed to Swisher later that same year.

“We have a very real friendship," Swisher once told Us Weekly of her relationship.
