Fixer Upper fans love Joanna Gaines for her impeccable style and eye for design. After all, she's been designing homes (and even a castle!) for more than 20 years, and has garnered legions of followers through her TV shows, magazine, and books. But some commenters on Instagram are calling her latest renovation her "first miss."

Joanna explained that she took on a smaller renovation for a young family who recently had a baby. Unlike some of her Fixer Upper makeovers, this one was quick and mostly cosmetic. Joanna said on her blog that she was hoping to showcase that small adjustments, like furniture and accessories, can make a big impact (no Demo Day required!). She and her team took on the "Mini Reni" and in just seven days made over the living room, dining room, and a bedroom. And it's the bedroom that is getting lots of attention.

Joanna and the Magnolia account posted a fun "before and after" reel showcasing the room's transformation. The caption reads, "See how @joannagaines transforms a plain, white space into a room with story and character—a blend of old and new. ✨ What corner is your favorite? #MiniReni"

Joanna's fans blew up the comments section, many of them having a strong reaction to the navy wallpaper. Like most of the furniture and accessories used, it's from her Magnolia line.

  • "Well out of thousands of hits this is clearly a miss for me. Maybe it looks better in person."

  • "Wallpaper looks like bathroom tile."

  • "I’m glad I’m not the only one who came to the comments to say 'it’s giving bathroom'"

Of course, there are a few fans applauding Joanna's sense of style with messages like, "What a beautiful transformation 😍 love the blue contrasting with the white! 🙌" and "
It’s not a miss at all! It’s masculine and modern and so much better than it was before!!! 👏👏👏"

Joanna took to her Instagram stories to address the reaction to the room. She paired the video of the bedroom makeover with Lenny Kravitz's song, "Are You Gonna Go My Way" and wrote, "There are lots of opinions on the wallpaper in the boy's room for #minireni! 🤭" She followed up that post with a poll, asking fans if the wallpaper was "a cute wallpaper for a boy's room 🤗" or "80s airport bathroom wall tile. 😂"

Based on Joanna's response, we're assuming she has a good sense of humor about this feedback. As always, you can't please everyone! We can't wait to see what Joanna dreams up next.
