Joanna Gaines Did the Weirdest Thing With Her Christmas Tree

From Country Living

Chip and Joanna Gaines have more than just festive decoration ideas to offer you this year. If you’ve been wondering what to do with your Christmas tree now that the holidays are over, the Magnolia power couple has an idea for you.

All you need are some goats. Simple, right?

After Christmas, Joanna shared a peek on her Instagram story at how the Gaines family gets rid of their tree. It’s just a little bit different than the rest of us who leave it on the curb to be collected.

The former Fixer Upper star’s story showed their Christmas tree—sans decorations—out in the field with a herd of goats coming to munch on it.

“They’ve been waiting for this all year!” she wrote. We agree, since they all seem excited to munch on their treat.

It's nice to see that while the couple is busy building their empire—whether it's their new Waco coffee shop, upcoming Waco hotel, or the entire television network—they're keeping it real back at the farm.

While this may seem unusual to those of us who don’t have a farm in their backyard, Joanna isn’t the only one who uses this eco-friendly method of Christmas tree recycling.

According to the Associated Press, many farms and zoos feed Christmas trees to their goats, some even putting out calls for trees from people in the neighborhood.

In the article, one farmer in New Jersey said that it takes her goats only a day or two to eat the trees, sometimes even hours. Goats leave no trace behind, gobbling up every bit of the tree, including the bark.

Joanna’s goats probably look so pleased because the trees are not only tasty, but nutritious too.

Even if you don’t have goats, there are plenty of ways to make sure your tree isn’t wasted, as the National Christmas Tree Association lists several recycling options on their website.

But we highly suggest finding some goats as your top option, because that's just adorable.
