Joanna and Chip Gaines' castle reno is done and it's up for auction – see inside

Joanna and Chip Gaines are auctioning their 100-year old castle in Waco Texas, from the 20th to 27th of July.

The castle (shown, above, before the renovation) was built in 1890, and has been extensively restored by the couple, who documented progress on their show Fixer Upper: Welcome Home - The Castle in 2022, which featured on Discovery+, HBO Max and the couple's Magnolia Network.

As avid viewers of the show, we're sure the property will gain a large amount of attention, which might make the auction a frenzied affair.

The couple purchased the property in 2019, and despite the Cottonland Castle's historic value, it's safe to say this stunning makeover has drastically increased the property's desirability and value.

Joanna and Chip commented that they hope their renovation on the castle will make it 'a well-loved home once again'.

The castle's grounds are almost 16. acres, while the castle itself is 6,000 square feet. The castle has four bedrooms, a conservatory (above), a library and a tower.

In an interview with Joanna and Chip on the Magnolia network in September 2022, prior to the show's debut, Chip commented, 'This castle is one of the most impressive properties in the entire Waco, Central Texas area and I've wanted it for two decades now. The plan for the castle is to bring this beautiful property back to its original state.'

The couple's love and admiration for the castle is evident from their restoration of the building's original features, such as the diamond shaped window-panes, paneling and millwork. However, the property has been modernized in a way that finds a harmonic balance with its historic features, a perfect blend of old and new.

'After such a long journey with the castle, it was fun to dress up and shoot the cover of #MagnoliaJournal in the completed Conservatory – one of my favorite spots in the house', says Joanna via her Instagram (above).

The conservatory features a classic black and white tiled floor, which is stylishly coordinated with the black painted door and window frames that feature on the exterior of the property. This clever use of color brings a modern twist to the property, while bringing out the light brick color, to make the property seem more homey, while still maintaining its grandeur.

'Castle Drawing Room Part 1: I love this room because of the natural light that floods into all the amazing wood windows,' says Joanna of the castle's drawing room, above.

'We lightened this room up and painted the original dark paneling and trim with Magnolia Home's Drawing Room gray and the walls, moulding and ceiling were painted Castle Cream.'

Joanna also tagged where she sourced her furniture in the room: Pottery Barn, Etsy, KILZ, Ace Hardware, Chairish, Akdo USA, Serena and Lily, Lulu and Georgia, 1st Dibs.

Joanna and Chip have used a range of natural colors, wallpapers, tiles, textures and design features throughout the property to ensure the home feels cohesive but not repetitive. Indeed, every room has something very different to offer.

Following the end of this project, Joanna and Chip have announced that they will be working on a 50,000 square-foot hotel in Waco, Texas, which will be a stone's throw from the Magnolia Market at the Silos, which is Joanna and Chip's shopping and dining destination. This hotel will have 33 bedrooms across its four floors. It will also feature a roof terrace, events hall, ballroom, and restaurant.

The auction is an exciting opportunity for not only perspective buyers, but also fans of Joanna's interior taste to see what she and husband Chip have done with this three story castle.
