Joann Carr: 25 Years of Rodeo Hospitality Excellence

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — For a quarter-century, Joann Carr has been a steadfast presence on the San Angelo Stock Show board, embodying dedication and hospitality at every turn. As the Rodeo Hospitality Committee Chief, Carr has seen the evolution of the event from its humble beginnings to the grand spectacle it is today.

Reflecting on the early days, Carr recalls the challenges the committee faced, ” We had to go get our food, we had no budget, we had nothing.” she reminisces, Despite the lack of resources, Carr and her team persevered, filed by their passion for serving others.

One of the cornerstones of Carr’s approach to hospitality is the meticulous planning that goes into each meal. With the assistance of her sisters, Joyce and Gacy, Carr prepares for the week’s meals well in advance. Sitting down together, they sit through a file of recipes, carefully curating a meal plan for each day of the week. The attention to detail ensures that every guest is treated to a delightful experience, setting the stage for a great evening at the rodeo.

Throughout her tenure, Carr has remained committed to providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all rodeo attendees. On average, the Rodeo Hospitality Committee serves between 150 to 250 meals each evening before the rodeo commences. As Joann Carr celebrates her 25th year as a San Angelo Stock Show board member, her legacy of hospitality shines brighter than ever.
