All our fave celebs from Rita Ora to Suki Waterhouse and Avantika have got the mob wife aesthetic memo and are donning their faux fur coats. All except Jennifer Lopez that is, who has swerved TikTok's latest viral trend in favour of florals.
The wife of Ben Affleck is currently in France for Paris Fashion Week and has been carving her own style niche repping two different corsage coats in the space of 48 hours. Arriving at Elie Saab's Haute Couture spring summer 2024 show yesterday, JLo stunned in a sage green ruched gown. The flowing chiffon fabric was cinched at the waist with a sculptural gold jewelled belt but the real statement was her floor-sweeping cape adorned entirely with huge 3D flowers constructed from pink, purple and green feathers and further embellished with crystals.
A velvet green ribbon in Jen's hair emphasised the romance of the look with the overall effect that of a Grecian goddess.
Despite fashion girlies including Selena Gomez, Hailey Bieber, Jenna Ortega and Phoebe Bridgers having all sported dresses decorated with realistic, dimensional flowers in the last year, the look remained firmly in the microtrend camp. However, with Florence Pugh, Rosamund Pike and Sabrina Elba backing the style in 3D floral dresses over the past couple of weeks, we're predicting 2024 will see the transference of flower power to the mainstream.
Especially given JLo has worn not one, but two corsage coats in the space of 48 hours. Yep, just two days prior to the Elie Saab show, Jen joined the likes of Zendaya and Hunter Schafer sitting front row of the Schiaparelli Spring/Summer 2024 show – debuting a new micro bob haircut in the process.
This time, she wore an oversized white jacket made from 7,000 real rose petals, revealing on Instagram the flowers were kept fresh and alive with hummingbird nectar (AKA sugar water).
As if it wasn't already a work of art, the jacket also featured silver sequin embellishment on the back. Combining two trends in one look, JLo repped the no trousers look by wearing just black tights beneath the garment, paired with a white turtleneck embroidered knit and cream leather belt. She added a quirky touch with gold eyebrow sunglasses.
Today marks the final day of Paris Fashion Week, here's hoping the A-List have saved their best looks til last.
